Very good. Personnel at check-in were friendly and helpful. Campground host was around and did a good job. He helped some campers nearby jump their car, which was a big help.

Campground and facilities were clean. Campsites were a good enough distance to where you couldnt hear conversations but you also didnt feel alone in the woods.

If youre okay with no hookups, Elkmont is a great campground. Very beautiful and close to trails, shopping, restaurants, and many other great things to see or do. No bad sites but some are better than others. Creekside sites are awesome but hard to get so reserve as soon as you can. Campground does need a little maintenance as far as paving or graveling sites but otherwise its a beautiful, peaceful, fun place to camp. We stay there 4-5 times per year, hitting all the seasons from April-November.

I have always appreciated this camp. Off grid no showers and the creek that we always play in when we are there. Its like our own natures water park. Plus all the staff at the camp are incredibly helpful and nice. Wish this place would stay open year round but it is what it is.

Love Elkmont but the last two years they have not keep up with the mowing or weed eating poison ivy everywhere

We have been going to elkmony for years and it seems like every year the mowing gets less and less.

Restrooms do not work. Portable toilets at each restroom. Have not mowed camping spots for months. Weeds at our spots over 5 feet tall. Had no idea upon arrival no wood or ice for sale. Roads not maintained for years. Been camping here for over 35 years. Breaks my heart to see this campground decline. Not sure why the GSMNP doesn’t care.

We spent Halloween weekend at Elkmont and couldnt have asked for a better time. We were worried that the popular campground would prove to be crowded, making us feel too close to our site neighbors, but that was never a problem. The campground is situated in small pockets, all somewhere beautiful no matter which section you camp in. Amenities were clean and accessible when needed, the location, made it easy to access key spots in the national park, and it was an overall lovely experience. We will be back as soon as we can. I cannot day enough good things about this wonderful place.
