New bathroom facilities were nice!

This particular campground was more pleasant than I expected for it's location in the middle of the park. Unlike Cade's Cove sites are not packed in like sardines, at least not on the H loop, nor from what I could see of the other loops cycling around the area. Site H11 has a nice level parking pad suitable for a short camper or RV, but backs up against a hill that separates it from the other campground loops making it especially pleasant.

Neighbors were a large group with 15 or so people over at least four campsites. Very loud, yelling, bad behavior, intoxication, and very loud music all day long on Saturday. We had enough by Saturday evening and did not stay for our second night. We and other campers were stopping to stare at the spectacle. We complained to the rangers at the front check-in earlier in the day but they said there was not much they could do other than let the camp host know but that he had "about 16 other things to do first". The ranger said that there was really no control over noise level during the day outside of quiet times. Never saw an actual ranger outside of the office the rest of our time there, or I would have stopped one to complain. I guess they've all been reassigned to write parking tickets.

Elkmont is my favorite place to camp!! You can checkout the cemeteries close by, the restored cabins, hike the natural trail and/or Little River Trail to Cumber Gap and finish up on Jakes Trail for a pleasant loop hike. And, there is tubing and cooling off in the river that runs through the campground.

Lovely campground, great site. Plenty of down wood for fires. Bathrooms had no electricity until last day which was a little difficult but nothing we couldn’t handle. We tent camped and loved our site.

No working bathrooms and the ground was very muddy on mountain side. Otherwise a nice campground.

Was very unsatisfied with NO bathrooms. I have a bad knee and using the port a jon's was NOT easy. I understand the issue of the bathrooms, but I made reservations a year in advance and had no notice of this issue or I would have stayed at Cades Cove even though Cades is very noisy. Camp host was a little rude when it came to getting the date you are there on your post. He needs to learn to be a little more nicer rather then a Curmudgeon.

Elkmont is a beautiful place to visit. Temps are always 10 - 15 degrees below those in the valley.
