Fantastic campground. Was there for the synchronous fireflies, but would come back another time and camp here even when that is not going on.

Camp host had an extremely bright light on all night. It was so bright it was casting shadows inside of my tent from across the street.

Love camping in the Smokies at Elkmont campground!! It was beautiful!! We have camped at Elkmont several times. Never disappoints!! No matter the season, always so peaceful and serene.
A stunningly gorgeous campground. Quiet and restful, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. A must see to believe type of place.

Beautiful campground, many hiking & exploring opportunities Will absolutely be back
Recreation . gov said this campground had restrooms. Received email stating that restrooms would be open mornings and evenings only because of construction on treatment plant. Upon arrival we found out that they would not be open and that porta potties would be available. Porta potties were maintained most of the time with Tuesday and Thursday not being cleaned. The Friday before Memorial day it was not cleaned, which meant that it was cleaned early Wednesday and not cleaned again until midday Saturday. They were pretty ripe by this time. We should have been notified of this change.

Clean bathrooms, and friendly staff. The areas were well kept and the tent pads are nicer than expected.

We loved Elkmont! Its centrally located which allowed us to hike west, south, and East with minimal drive time. The camp host was lovely and our site was wonderful. We will definitely be back!

I want to give an excellent rating as the park is really beautiful. I wish the restrooms were kept bit cleaner and being sanitized due to COVID-19 situation. I found out that they were not clean at all. The rangers at the check in point were extremely helpful, nice and welcoming. I already have two more trips planned later this year. Be prepared for rain - it rained almost 1/3 times we were there, but we enjoyed our walks and backpacking to trails. Laurel falls trail is a great hike and we recommend to go either very early or late, as otherwise, it will be very busy. Enjoy your trip!

The campground was 100 yards from some sort of electrical/pumping station. The station would turn on backup generator and create annoying noise. The park service was aware since they closed off one camp site that was 50 yards from the station. The information was not distributed to the public. Someone in park administration really messed up the planning with all the noise pollution at the camp site.

Mobile Data Speed Map

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
