Great campground. Helpful and kind volunteers and staff. Unforgettable experience to see the fireflies.

Got a campsite near a restroom as I had my elderly mother with us. The restroom was closed / not in service. The next bathroom over ran out of toilet paper. Campground is pretty and overall was a good experience otherwise.

As always, this is the best campground in the park. Been coming here for 15 plus years and will continue to do so. Has access to good trails and conveniently located to many areas of the park. Like many areas of the park, can be busy and hard to find parking spots at times.

Elkmont Campground is beautiful and the NPS staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I only wish the beautiful views weren't obstructed by Porta Pottys everywhere.

The H02 site is very near the bathrooms and lots of trees (great for hammocks). There was no stand and hook for hanging items, like all the other sites had, but it was equipped besides that. The sites right across - my friend was at H01 - are right on the water, and you can hear it flowing, which made great white noise kind of sounds while sleeping. I would recommend this whole area for camping.

Many years ago I spent a lot of time camping at national parks. They were always well kept and very clean. The bathrooms here were very bad. We've done a lot of camping so I know that clean is never really clean, but these were quite bad. Also, a lot of noisy campers into the early am and sites are very close to each other. Not what I was used to in terms of the national park system.

In planning for this trip all of the information I could find indicated I needed bear proof coolers, so I purchased two. Upon arrival to the camp ground the staff made me read a sign that said all coolers including bear proof/resistant must be stored in vehicles or there is an $80 fine. First of all, vehicles do not stop bears as the documentary on pbs clearly indicates and 600 locked cars were open By bears in 1997 alone. Dealing with problem bears is the answer. Second, the H loop sink for doing dishes was backed up and full of garbage our entire stay.
