Well maintained sites and restrooms. There is a dedicated covered area for washing dishes with cold water. Fellow campers are considerate. The campground was full each night but mostly cleared out during the day. We camped in a 13 foot popup that was easy to position into our space.

Beautiful Fall foliage area, well run campground. Helpful rangers made our first come first serve campsite(s) possible, allowing us to stay for the two nights we wanted. Clean restrooms located in easy walking distance to our sites. Will return in future years.

One of the best campgrounds to date that we have visited, if you are truly looking for the camping experience. The setting is amazing, almost surreal at times, with towering trees that provide a natural canopy from rain and sun. There are rivers running thru and around the campsite that you hear all the time, from babbling brook too a ragging river at times (it rained while we where there...lol). Don't forget to take the road up to some historic homes that date back 100 years, which are being restored and can be toured on your own. And if you get a chance to come and see the firefly's you will not be disappointed... it's an event of a lifetime, so we've heard... we have yet to hit it at the right time, but will be back every year till we do. This is definitely a place to visit if you love just being in the woods and with nature.

I was highly disappointed in the fact that we needed a to pay for a reservation to hike laurel falls! You could make a reservation if there was one available and you could find cell service.
I was also told at the visitor center that we would be able to hike at cades cove even though they were in the process of repaving it, made the drive out there and we were turned away by two rangers who said we would not be allowed to walk.

2nd visit to Elkmont campground, this time also was amazing with kids and us!
I thought the toilets are temporary due to the covid19 but we visited to Cade Coves, they have nice public toilets.
I want to give the review 4 stars at this time because of the toilets but overalls are always 5 stars!

We liked the campground. The river is right there, and there are not so many people so you can sit there alone and enjoy it. Sites are maybe 50 ft or more from each other, and it feels private enough. The men's restroom was ok, my GF said the women's restroom smelled a bit. There are a couple trails that start right from the campground, including a 1-mile long one with a small waterfall. You can ask the person at the check in, and they can recommend some trails. A very popular Laurel Falls is 6 mins away by car. There is also a small store at the campground, they sell firewood, milk, eggs, etc.We managed to get a spot which is quite close to the river for Thursday through Sat in late July 2020. You are in good shape if you book at least two-three weeks in advance. One week in advance all spots for the weekend were gone. You need to check in the day you arrive, or the next day before noon. Otherwise, you may lose your spot. If you are late, give the campground a call.

The campground is simply set into nature with simple amenities. Makes it easy to unplug but some basics are easily available. Also, other forms of nature are nearby, climbing on the big rocks in the rivers, swimming, hiking for all skill levels, majestic views and more.
