We had a gorgeous site by the river and enjoyed our stay! I would have preferred bear lockers on the site given the amount of bear activity in the area, otherwise a wonderful experience in GSMNP!

I grew up going to this campground and it is the one thing in life that hasnt changed. The only con to Elkmont is that it sets the bar too high for campgrounds. It is so beautiful. You wont even need to leave the campground for the perfect mountain vacation!

Almost perfect except for one drawback: Poison ivy on the edges of the tent pads and blocking the main paths between campsites and bathrooms. If visitors pitch their tent in the dark, they will likely get poison ivy rash.

Moved us out of the site we had reserved because of a broken limb hanging in the tree. That was okay except moved us to a site that has two very, very dead trees in the site. I think my chances were better with the limb.

Beautiful campground with large sites. Many on the river. We had a quiet and peaceful experience sitting by our fire, listening to the sounds of the river and watching a full moon rise above the trees.. All the staff were helpful. Would definitely recommend this campground.

We loved Elkmont and exploring the Smokies from this homebase. We loved walking up the trails at night to see the fireflies. Deniman the camp host really made our stay with his great stories and personable nature. We were happy to see him come by every time.

This is our favorite campground! Every site is lovely, but the generators are just annoying. We cant wait to make reservations for next year!

Excellent campground. Most beautiful scenery I have ever witnessed. The only way to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere is by primitive camping. RV's just don't get the same experience.

Organized well, quiet, no issues with other campers but folks on site we present should anything arise, camp pad was perfect and well maintained. One issue- The outside (and inside through the windows) for the restroom facilities were unnecessarily bright. As much as they were very distracting during sleep.. shined right through my tent. Please turn them down to a lower wattage / power. Otherwise, great trip and i will return.
