Most amazing place. For the first time in years, had multiple RVs around that were NOT running their generators ALL DAY LONG. Very respectful neighbors, very friendly staff, very serene atmosphere.

Absolutely beautiful and relaxing. The river that runs through the campground is fun to hike through and tube down. At night the sound of the river and tree frogs is nature's perfect sound machine for a good deep sleep. Being away from cell service and electric is the perfect way to disconnect and reconnect with all the simple things. Elkmont ghost town is a short walk away to go exploring on some history. Great hiking trails that are walking distances away. Also so other popular trails within a short drive. Lastly a short drive from Gatlinburg to pick up some needs, shopping, and entertainment.

What a nice campground. My campsite was right by the river. Staff was helpful. bathrooms were clean and I liked that there were dish washing stations at the restrooms, since this is bear country.

Excellent process to reserve a camp site, to include photos of each camp site and details.
Previously did not have the app, but it was helpful for reference.
Staff at office check in were welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful with information.
Value the ability to buy firewood on arrival and have after hours honor purchase (but did not use).
Campground was clean, and facilities were also well maintained.
Our group of 5 camped at Elkmont one night prior to a two-night backcountry loop from Newfound Gap to Kephart, to Charlies Bunion, to Icewater and back to Newfound Gap.

My dad and I are frequent backcountry backpackers so staying in a campground was luxury. Interactions with park staff were not pleasant and reminded us why we prefer backcountry. Upon check in I received typical safety information, including food storage safety. Park staff scoffed when I mentioned I had a bear barrel and cut me off to tell me food had to stay in the car before I could finish and say thats where I was planning to keep it. My campsite had asphalt parking spaces, but the asphalt is deteriorating/getting covered by gravel on the edges. I understand the intent of the rules about where to park. If the asphalt in this location wasnt buried under gravel, it was obvious from the places where asphalt was showing that our car was parked in what was intended to be the parking area. We were asked to move our vehicle 3 inches to be on visible asphalt by park staff. We dug behind the wheel to show there was asphalt buried but that wasnt sufficient for park staff. It seems there needs to be some interpretation of intent of rules during enforcement. We understand leave no trace principles but this was extreme interpretation that wasnt needed as we were trying to set up camp before dark after getting in late.

Just a wonderful place. The river, the hikes nearby. And the rangers in the registration office are professional, knowledgeable and sooooo helpful, willing to share their love of the park.

Absolutely stunning location walking distance from historical Daisy Town. Recommend using the photos and map to navigate the best experience for you and your travel group. We chose something near the river, but there are many options for different ambiences!

My absolute favorite place to stay, we love the sound of the little river that flows through the campground. So many trails and love to go to the old community to see the old home sites and the way of life back then.

Camp host and the campground were great; however, the website was not updated to let people know that the camp store was not open. This made it difficult to get firewood and ice for the first night especially with a later arrival.
