Our campsite was double booked one night but the volunteers that worked at the campsite (older gentleman and his wife from Florida with a beautiful black lab) could not have been nicer in finding another site for us to use for the night. You are fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers!

We had a great time at Elkmont. Even though there are no hookups, we were able to stay for 4 days while charging our batteries on solar and generator. The sounds of the Little River provide a calming ambiance and the many hiking options help bring you closer to nature.

Elkmont has always been a favorite place to camp in the Smoky Mtn National Park. This time we were disappointed. They use to keep the grounds between the campsites mowed and trimmed. I don't think it has been mowed all year. Poison ivy was all over the place. My wife said the inside bathroom door would not latch.

Easy check in, beautiful, Park Rangers are great. The hiking is wonderful. Its close to Gatlinburg and pigeon Forge. We already made reservations for the fall.

Beautiful place! Keep in mind it's a "primitive" campground. No power, water or showers. We love it!

Our camping experience at Elkmont campground was wonderful. Elkmont is shady and the campsites are spacious with the most desirable along the river. There are a couple of hikes you can do right from your campsite. I highly recommend the Lemon Gap loop trail which is 7 miles and very scenic. It is suitable for most hikers and families. Those planning on visiting Elkmont need to be aware that the bathrooms are closed due to renovations and unless you have an RV with your own facilities you will need to use the "port-a-potties".

Very nice campground with near hiking trails and history along. Many camping spots located next to creek. Takes less than 30 min to town with lots of restaurants, shopping and attractions or to most beautiful hikes Alum Cave, Chimney Tops. Get early to find parking spot, parking is limited or park along road and add distance to your hike. In Gatlinburg park for free along River Rd.
