Came in after dark, while it was pouring down. After about fifteen minutes the rain died down and it did not come back for the rest of the night. We stayed in a site directly next to the river and it was very soothing. The campsites are very tidy and provide mostly everything youd need. I was also surprised how clean the bathrooms were. No showers but thats okay!!

Beautiful view located on the water. Upon arrival rangers repeatedly suggested it was one of the most ideal sites and we were not disappointed. Easy to locate. Store with firewood and other convenient items located at the entrance. Very nice nature walk nearby. Highly recommend this site!

All staff I interacted with were great! Bathrooms were clean. Riverside campsites are beautiful!

Pros-Reservations through check in were great. The ranger that helped us was very nice. Site was clean, the fire pit in good order with a grade to put pans on and flip out of the way when not in use. Beautifully kept grounds. Our site E 5 was along the river, very soothing sound. Its a generator use area so it helps to drown out sound. Neutral statement- Bathrooms are basic but nice to have running water, watch out for spiders before taking a seat should you need to. Cons- $9 Way to much for a bundle of wood, no quantity discount like most parks. The site rate was reasonable, the wood made it so we could have gotten a cabin on air BNB. People coming in till all hours setting up camp and partying at 1:30 in the morning even the rapids didn't drown that out. That I saw no ranger came and told them to shut up. At 3:30 they started snoring, we gave up and got up and left for sunrise at Clingmans Dome. Considering we were in the truck we felt bad for all the tent people. Also people in cars zip around to fast, first time seeing people so inconsiderate with safety in a campground. If you bike ride be sure to wear something you can be seen in.

Please follow rules and put everything in your car! No deodorant, toothpaste, food, etc in your tent! Dont be the cause of a bear having to be killed because it came exploring in your tent (with you in it)!

Our tent campsite right on the river was wonderfully relaxing. Although the Park and Campground are crowded even in early Spring, the sound of the river calms. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park remains the most popular in US for a reason-the most beautiful forest. Wish not so many people loved it but understand why. Our third visit. Two in Elkmont and one in Cades Cove tent camping.

The site was terrific. Covid messed things up a bit with no showers but the porto johns were exceptionally clean so I was happy with that. Check in was smooth and the ranger at the desk was a pleasant chap.

THE most beautiful spot in the Smokes! The drive up is stupendous in and of itself but the camp site, with the river running right next to it, is so relaxing.
The Park Rangers are all extremely nice and helpful.
I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back!

The restrooms being out of order was a negative. Didn't like having to use a porta potty although they were clean.

People checking you in were rude and unhelpful. Reservations were messed up and they did nothing to help.

Elkmont is awesome! Next to a wonderful stream and access to a trail.
