Very nice campground on the river!! The rangers were very polite and super helpful! Fire wood is very expensive at $10 for a small bundle, I recommend loading up in Maryville where its $5.

The park has been overrun by people. Seen a lot of trash. Also, saw group of men in the bathroom. They did not look like campers. A lot of impolite people. Been going to the Smokies for nearly 50 years. Pretty disappointed on how people treat our beautiful national park.

We camped in Site E-4 and absolutely loved everything about Elkmont, our site and The Great Smokey Mountain National Park!! We had plenty of room for our tow vehicle. It was quiet and dark and we woke up each morning with birds singing. The sounds of the Little River, across from our site, was the perfect lullaby to put us into a sound sleep. We loved the hike up to Laurel Falls it is up hill, but falls were amazingget there early because the lots fill up before 9 am. We also did the drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. So many pull offs with amazing views! We did the auto drive through Cades Cove. We got in about 6:30 and we had about an hour & 1/2 before sunset. We saw many of the parks infamous black bears and many cubs. We also saw a few female elk which had come down to the meadow to prepare for giving birth. We drive out to Clingmans Dome lot and did the 1/2 mile walk up to the tower, even though it was foggy it was great! Clingmans is the highest mountain east of the Mississippi. You can hike segments of the Appalachian Trail as it runs along the ridge in the park between TN and NC! Be sure to visit the visitor centers, they have amazing information and the Rangers are so knowledgeable and helpful to plan hikes and suggest drives.

We love Elkmont. We had a nice time. The only problem was I did not know there was no dump station. We arrived with a gray water tank almost full and planning to dump that first. But there was no dump station. Perhaps that's noted on the website, but I didn't see that. Also, the staff didn't tell us about the event "Daisy Town" being held while we were there. We only found out accidently and too late to go.

We have been camping at Elkmont for 30 years. Every year has been a wonderful experience. We love the peace and quite. We love floating the river. The weather was great this year. The cool nights make for great sleeping. It was nice to find the restrooms functioning again. Hiking to Mount LeConte was a challenge and a thrill. So many great hikes and attractions nearby. We love it.

Elkmont Campground at Smoky Mtn. National Park needs improvements as follows:Grass needs to be cut and weeds cut.bathrooms needs to be maintained.Campground sites and roads have large pot holes, needs to be repaved. The campground amphitheater night program led by Park Rangers needs to be reinstated. Our family has camped at Elkmont since 1960's, campground has really gone down.

A great place just to be! So much to learn and experience. If you never disperse camping (boondock) this is the place to try out your skills. The camp host Tom was great! Wonderful park.

Bathrooms closed 100% of time, porta potties only. We were traveling with friends and could not visit them the entire time because they were in another section. The volunteers wrote citations if you parked your car somewhere that wasnt your site, even if unoccupied. Too far to walk for me. Also, the overgrowth all over campground was terrible. Theyre really letting the place go downhill. There was no upkeep and never saw a ranger.

Campsites are large and shaded, usually a very quiet campground but unfortunately our neighbor ran his generator from 8am until 8 pm without a break. Yes I know we were in the generator area but everyone is usually considerate. We have camped here several times because it is our favorite campground for the area. We will be back.

Had a great experience once we got there. If you have a trailer/motorhome do not trust your GPS to take you there. We were directed to a road that had signs on it no large vehicles allowed and had to turn our big 5th wheel around on a little country road!

I always enjoy Elkmont. Its closest to all the best the GSMNP has to offer. Some of the best hiking trails, Sugarlands Visitors Center & Gatlinburg.

Fantastic place to return to after a day in the park. great location to a variety of activities. The Little River was great as it drowned out any noise from other camp sites. Loved it
