This campground is one of our favorite places ever to visit. This was our second stay and we extended it two extra days because we couldn't get enough. It will be a yearly tradition. Waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the river is so comforting. Even if you're not at a river front site you still hear it. The rangers and camp store host are so sweet. The bathroom stayed so clean. The campground was quiet and beautiful. It's a 7 mile drive to Gatlinburg, when you go right. Or take a left towards Cades Cove and the views and pull offs are incredible. There is no cell service, no showers, and no electric so prepare accordingly. You can drive a couple miles down the mountain to the pull offs and get service if needed. This campground is the best little gem in the Smokies.

Beautiful serene campsite. We just noticed a lot of empty campsites and were perplexed given how hard it is to secure a spot in October.

You can find some good mostly secluded sites here and All of them have the beautiful background sound of the little river. Being in a nice tight valley also makes for hardly any wind and it has a wonderful view of a dark night sky through the tall breath taking trees. The bathrooms have running water and are kept very clean. The hosts and office/store staff were all so nice and helpful. As for showers, you should be aware they have none and they do give suggestions as to where to find some. But, after some campground hopping and a few Very cranky encounters. (Stay away from the KOA in Townsend! Also skip Little Arrow) I cannot stress this enough! Your absolute best choice will be to stop at the Mountaineer Campground in Townsend! They were extremely inviting and so very accommodating. The showers/bathrooms may be dated but they had good privacy and the cleanest campground facilities I have Ever been in. It was only 15 dollars for the two of us and that price also includes a nice long dip in the pool if you so wish. They clearly take pride in representation and customer service. Whether youre camping there or not.

Outstanding location, clean, wonderful hosts. Wish the park would build shower stalls, though.

Campground in good condition. Our only problem was that one of the weeks that we were there was the firefly exhibition. We watched crowds of people heading up to it. I am handicapped with limited walking ability. We asked the ranger if there was any way that I could be driven up to it and he said that my husband could drive me up there, then drive back to our campsite, and then walk to the event. Then he added that my husband could not pick me up until 11 pm when the show was over as they didn't want headlights disturbing the bugs. That would not work. So we never got to see them. I certainly understand that you need to cater to the masses, but it did make our stay there somewhat negative.

Nice campground, friendly staff! Beautiful! I was shocked at the price of firewood though! 9.87$ for a very small bundle....๐Ÿ˜ณ

Campgrounds are super nice and well maintained. Far apart enough from others to feel comfortable too. The restrooms were being renovated when we went, but the portable bathrooms were high quality with foot pedal sinks. Canโ€™t complain about that.

Only gripe is that buying firewood in the campgrounds is $10 for 6 measly pieces of wood. Buy it from private vendors near the campground for way cheaper rates.

One of our most favorite national parks. Even though the park is undergoing sewage treatment updates ( restrooms are closed ) the services provided are excellent. The location of the park with all the natural elements are stellar. We hiked each day and sat along the various areas to simply take in the beauty. Every moment we stopped to listen to the stream helped soothe our minds. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We will see you next year !!!

Beautiful campground with a river running throughout that allows fishing and good night sleep. Located in the great Smoky mountains national park. Lots of wildlife and hiking trails in the area.

It was bad enough that there were no toilets to use. What's worse is that the restrooms were closed for the use of the faucets and mirrors. We found out only be complaining that they were open, but only for two hours a day. Add to that there are not even any electrical outlets available anywhere. Why not?
So we had to use portable toilets! They were pumped out each morning and washed down leaving them totally soaked with water to sit on and leaving the toilet paper wet and stuck to the wall. Would you want to sit on a soaking wet toilet seat?
By appearance of the grounds, you are either under staffed or don't care. The grass had not been cut and the grounds around the entire campground were cluttered with sticks.
Upon arrival, late at night, I could not read the map of the campground to know how to get to my site. A new Lexan shield needs to be installed replacing the one there which is glazed over so badly nothing behind it is legible.
Every National Park I have been to has posted the current weather report at the campground office. This was not done any of the 5 days I was there. There is no internet service and so there is no way to know what to expect weather-wise.
This could be a top notch campground with the spacious campsites and concrete pads but it fails miserably due to lack of maintenance.

Other than restrooms being closed for renovation, everything was great. Portable toilets were provided.
