Very nice shady campground. Needs an rv dump station. Couldnt purchase a parking pass there. Ranger was pretty defensive when I questioned that.

This used to be the best primitive campground. Spacious spots with lots of room for kids to play. The care of the campground has really dropped over the last several years. The sites are covered in poison ivy, and the grass and weeds are up to your knees. We thought with now charging for parking in the national park that some of those funds would go back to mowing and weeding at the campground, but that hasnt happened yet.

Another excellent time had by all at Elkmont! Just so beautiful with so much to do and see close by. Fabulous fun for everyone . Personally I adore the tranquil atmosphere. Nothing better then to go to sleep listening to the river run and under the beautiful stars.
A great campground! If you need solar, B29 is one of the best sites. The cell service for Verizon was nada so be prepared. You can hike out to the road and get a couple of bars, though! Close in to the park and the Newfound Gap area. Also close to Maggie Valley but definitely not the prettiest part of the park. For that, you will want to stay at Smokemont CG.
Excellent location, very nice staff. The campground is located very conveniently to Gatlinburg. The only caveat here is: if you intend to drive to the town on a Saturday afternoon during a peak season, it may take you up to 2 hours to make the mere 8 miles between the Elkmont campground and downtown Gatlinburg. Popularity=traffic. Please plan accordingly.
We enjoy the area. Great hiking nearby. Went to view the fireflies and weren't disappointed.

Aah, camping at its best in the tall trees with a beautiful stream as the Spring wild flowers and trees bloomed. Nice hiking trails just across from the campground. All the trails in the park are well maintained and the drive to Clingmans Dome was spectacular. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are very touristy, but do have all necessary provisions. We’ll be back again in the Fall.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
