The campsite we stayed at was excellent! It was very relaxing and beautiful. We watched chipmunks, squirrels and turkeys walk around our campsite. The river was beautiful as well. We will be coming back!

Elkmont is beautiful in any season. The campground hosts, Clyde and Debbie Whitaker, made us feel that everything was being well looked after.

Beautiful campground, with clean bathrooms. Unfortunately there are no showers near the campground the closes one that the campground recommends is in Sevierville.

Elkmont is our Favorite and have been camping here since the 1960's. BUT... The Campground is in dire need of infusion of $$$ to repair and upgrade the facilities. 1) Road repair (More potholes than N.Y.C.) 2) Campsites need gravel replaced / Added (Was done about 15 years ago) to help in muddy / flooding during rainy season 3) Campsite Paved driveway / RV Parking needs to be repaved & many leveled out. The Current pavement is breaking up 3) Bathrooms need an upgrade (Was done about 15 years ago) and major repairs. 4) Put a RV Dump Station in the Campground, Having to Drive to Sugarlands to dump holding tanks is a major undertaking once set up. No excuse as the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) was updated & Expanded 3 - 4 years ago and can handle a Dump Station within Elkmont Facilities (Cades Cove, Smokemont, Deep Creek, Look Rock, Cosby All have Dump Stations within the Campground). The Rangers at the Check-in station are super Nice and helpful. The Campground Host(s) do a great job of informing campers of any issues (Mainly Newbies camping and don't realize camping in the park campground has different requirements than private campgrounds in nearby city settings with encounters with bears etc.) Even with the current shortcomings in Elkmont Campground, We will be back.

Check in was super fast, staff were friendly, campsites were good size and bathrooms were very clean. Overall a great experience for our family.

There are a lot of people using generators which is great as I use one as well. I think it should be stressed that there is a federal noise requirement for generators. Most were well with in this regulation, but there were a few that were way out. A simple app on a phone can record this. Other than that we love staying here as always and will be back in November.

Elkmont has been a 52 year tradition for my family members. The 2021 season has been an absolute nightmare: 1. No restrooms this season, must use porta-potties. 2. Concession bid did not go out for bid in time, therefore wood and ice was not available during the early portion of the season, however a vendor was located and now offers $10.00 bundle wood and $5.00 ice. 3. Campground maintenance has been less than desirable, potholes throughout the campground can exceed 24" inches thus causing high cost repairs not only to campers vehicles but park service vehicles as well. I realize staffing has declined as visitors numbers have climbed, however volunteer groups are ready and willing to assistance.

I went to the Smokies with my dad for a father-daughter bonding trip right before I headed back to college, and it couldn't have gone better. Elkmont is a good centralized location -- close to all of the trails while not too far from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Our site was a comfortable size for the first two nights, and on our third night, we were able to stay at an even larger riverfront site. The view and sound of the river was amazing, and Elkmont had plenty of trees that were great for hanging hammocks on. We also loved being able to see the wild turkeys. The check-in process was smooth, with Haley helping us out both times. The bathrooms were also very clean, considering that they were porta-potties.

So many riverside campgrounds and cool temps. The river flow makes it easy to fall asleep to in a tent and the campground is clean and cared for. Loved my time.

We had a phenomenal experience at Elkmont Campsite. It was just my husband and I tent camping in D4. We were lucky to get a cancellation because we booked it just a few days before we left. I didn't know how coveted these sites are until we got there. D4 was right on the river with plenty of space. Our neighbors were friendly, and one was a local history buff who told us fascinating information about the area. We hiked Ramsay Cascades one day, and Clingman's Dome the next day. We also spent some time walking through the Elkmont "ghost-town" and the Appalachian Club. We highly recommend this campsite, and our site in particular. Not all are on the water, so getting one on the water was a special treat!

The lack of hook-ups is made up by.the beauty, peacefulness and consistency over the past 60 years we have visited. The water sites are incomparable with any other campground we have visited. The location is good for excellent hiking in the park and access to town amenities within 15 minutes even though you feel far away on top of a mountain.
