Beautiful campground. Well kept and clean and the staff was very friendly. They sell firewood there and have plenty so that is one less worry. The have a 24/7 honor system for firewood and ice should you run out after the store hours are closed. Download offline maps as you lose all cell phone service about 45 minutes before arriving. The campground is very primitive with only a toilet house and a large basin sink for washing your dishes and other fresh water needs. Overall a great trip. Very high animal and bear activity so plan well. I will be returning for a least one trip a year if not more.

We only stayed at the campground. We went there to get away from the hustle and bustle of our life. It is far more relaxing to sit by the campfire than to fight the traffic and crowds in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

We loved the area. Gorgeous location. Very shaded, which was nice, but do not depend on solar panels to charge batteries. We were in a generator loop, however even though I could find no regulation against running a generator while we were gone our generator was shut off and we were issued a warning.

It would have been a better experience if the campground had hot water and showers. Very limited parking in hiking and scenic locations. Cannot imagine what it is like in the summer when it is more crowded.

Beautiful campground with tall trees and the creek passing through! A short walk to the Elkmont ghost town, Jake’s Creek trail and a short nature trail for kids. Firewood and vending available at camp entrance. Saw tons of turkeys during our visit too! We will definitely stay here again. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Elkmont was all that we expected. Definitely would go again. The only thing that I would suggest to them is that they empty out the porta potty’s more frequently. But other than that our family had a great time. Thanks Elkmont !!!

Have been camping at Elkmont for 35 years and have always looked forward to our trip. However, this past trip was VERY disappointing. Bathrooms were closed due to septic problems and they had port a potties set up. Could deal with this unusual situation. The Camp store was closed - so no ice or wood could be purchased there. There was no ranger show (which our grandchildren always look forward to) and the rangers were very unfriendly. Seemed like although we always go by the rules, they were looking for something we were doing wrong. Hosts seemed friendly enough! The fire grills were half full of ash and trash when we arrived and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned out all season. The grass area In the campsites were very high and needed mowing/weed eating. Our young grandchildren (2&4), were running around in it until we discovered a 4 foot rattlesnake. When Ranger Greg was called to relocate it, he was very rude and told us we were more likely to get attacked by a bear than the rattle snake. He asked if we could pack up our things and move to another site. We were only there another day and there were no other sites available. I told him if the grass had been short and we could watch the snake it wouldn’t be such a problem. But we didn’t want it there with our young grandchildren there. Then he mumbled that “if we didn’t like the grass we should pack up and move to a hotel in gatlinburg!” He finally did capture the snake after 3 tries and relocated it. We are from central Florida and live in the country with rattlesnakes and moccasins so are used to seeing snakes pass thru. We have never been treated like this before and we were very disappointed in the situations. We did enjoy the lightning bug synchronization that we happened upon. Just wish they took better care of the camp ground. What a shame. Such a beautiful place. Thought it was all due to COVID but Visiting Cades Cove, we found it clean, stores open and grass cut! What’s going on?

Elkmont is my favorite campground..however the information that they were sending out regarding the restrooms being open 2 hrs. In the morning and 2 hours in the evening was incorrect. They were not open at all. Even though they had portable toilets.. this put a heavy burden on many campers especially with children and elderly folks as they were expecting these to be open as stated for a few hours. There was no wood or ice provided for purchase. Even though this was mentioned on line.. I still feel that more effort could have been made to provide this service. Really and truly.. there was not enough provided here to even meet people’s basic needs. It wasn’t so bad for me as I was in a small rv, but it left many people without campfires to keep warm. I just think for a National Park.. much more effort could have been put in for arranging these basic supplies for the Campers to purchase. It’s like no one even followed up on what was posted on recreation.gov. and really happening. I was still getting notifications that the restrooms were open on the stated times while I was camped there. Supervision and attention is definitely needed. Still my favorite!

We always love Elkmount. Hate the bathrooms was out of service an the grounds wasn’t maintained more have they maintained the fire pits they was full. Still had a nice time. It was a full camp ground. The camp store was closed also. Hopefully they ca get a full staff again.
