I read reviews saying the restrooms were terrible, nasty etc... They were very clean! 5/25 Bring your own hand soap to wash your hands but please DO NOT LEAVE IT in the restroom, it attracts wildlife. Leave no trace. We loved our camp site!! Perfect access to the river. Great for children.

This is a magical place! We were here in late April. The weather was perfect with clear skies. The river was rushing by and fishermen were wading in the cold waters. We saw just a couple of fireflies high in the trees. Our site was on the Little River so the sound of the river lulled us to sleep each night.

Beautiful site along the river. Clean bathrooms and a nice dish washing station. Nice walking paths. Wish we could have stayed longer!

The campground location is very nice. The staff were very polite and helpful. Electricity and water at the individual sites would be nice. The ice and firewood is expensive.

Elkmont is like going home and holds so many special memories for me and my family. Since I was four years old (I'm 52 now) it has been my family tradition to visit the park for an entire week during the month of October. It is gorgeous, the leaves of the trees are at their peak. The air is cool and crisp and the soothing sound of the nearby creek will guarantee the best night's sleep. Growing up, these annual trips are something everyone highly anticipates, equally among my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. My family usually occupied six or seven campsites. Three or four times we stayed at other campgrounds to see if we liked them better. However, each time we were disappointed and always returned to Elkmont. Elkmont will always be like our home away from home. As always, I would recommend taking a day trip to Cades Cove. The beautiful scenery, wildlife, and incredible fall colors make for the perfect backdrop for the dozens of pictures you are bound to take. I highly recommend that you allow hours for this eleven-mile journey where you travel back to a time when strangers said hello, there were no cell phones and, everyone was relaxed and smiling. To get the full effect of this majestic place, take this tour by bicycle and truly relax. Be cautious, there are many large hills and curves. I recommend that one person in your party drive behind those who want to ride their bikes. There are several pullover spots to enjoy a picnic, rest, take pictures or throw your bike in the back as you realize eleven miles is kind of far on a bike. Truly, you don't have to be a professional athlete or professional cyclist. My younger sister was only 6 years old when she completed it and set the record for the youngest person ever to cycle the entire eleven miles. That was around 38 eight years ago I doubt that record still stands. Elkmont Campground will forever remain one of my favorite places on Earth. Brad Crosley

Great campground and great park folks. The camp store host was very helpful with information and products. Only problem that caused a little angst was the inability to reserve a campsite online the same day of arrival. It showed "FF" on the availability date, which is first come first served, but the website says all reservations had to be made online. Calls to campground to resolve the dilemma resulted in continual loop without ability to talk to human being. Took a chance and drove out of way but fortunately a site was available. Recommend a simple statement that "Campsites cannot be reserved online on same day of arrival.", somewhere appropriate on reservations page.

This is one of the best campgrounds out there. Get a creekside site if you can, its well worth the wait.

spacious sites in a beautiful setting.
The little river trail is close and amazing.
Some of the potholes on roads were getting out of hand and may damage a car/camper

The campground rates 5 stars in my book. It's a beautiful campground and well run. I had to take one star away because of the temporary port a potties. Once the rest rooms reopen this campground deserves 5 stars!

The campground was beautiful. We were right by the river. We did several hikes and an 11 mile bike ride at Cades Cove on Wednesday morning. It’s closed to motor vehicles then. However, I knew there wasn’t showers at the campground but I did expect flush toilets. When we checked in we were told they were working on the sewer system and there were porta toilets instead. We were there 4 nights, no one was working on system. 4days of that was too much for us. They weren’t even the big handicap ones. Also the camp store wasn’t open. The park was wonderful, the campground beautiful but primitive. It would have been really horrible if I had small children. An email about the porta potties would have been nice.

The bathhouses were all closed. A better way would be if you were rentavatjng them just close one at a time! We were notified only one week before we arrived of the issue. We were informed that they would have some open hours but they were always closed.
