Elkmont Campground was a great experience. We entered the park to see a herd of elk grazing near the visitors center. We lost cell service about 30 minutes into driving, but we were told this would happen and were instructed on planning ahead. There was plenty of information on preparing for bears and what to expect while camping. It rained A LOT, which would be my only complaint, but that's just how things go. The drive was incredible and the park was very clean and well maintained. The campsites are pretty close together, but not so much that you felt there were privacy issues. The trails nearby were great as well. Know that if you bring an animal, where you go is limited. Make sure to heed all warnings and precautions about bears and you should have a great trip.

We were in spot C2, and it was a great location on the river. You really cant go wrong at any of the spots at the campground.

The nearest dump station is six miles away we the sugarlands visitors center. For larger rigs, getting in and out of that dump station can be difficult. It's hard to make the turns without tires coming off the pavement and in some spots it's a decent drop to the ground.

We enjoyed our stay at Elkmont Campground. Very disappointed in the bathrooms at Cades Cove. They were disgusting for an area that is visited so much.

While the normal restrooms were out of order for our trip, due the to repairs for the waste water plumbing, the port-o-pots were cleaned very well. This campground is in a great location close to a lot of the major hikes and tourist locations/ attractions. as well as the visitor center and Gatlinburg. The site itself was great and well maintained.

Bathhouses closed. Camp store closed. You have to drive miles to get firewood since you cannot bring your own. Campground over grown and unmaintained.

This was such a lovely campground and a beautiful site next to the river. I wish I could have bought firewood, but that was closed.

Although the bathrooms are being renovated and firewood and ice were unavailable, it still is an amazing campground. Those are temporary glitches. The campsites are private. The trails are beautiful!

Amazing campground and I was able to get a flat spot right along Little River. The only thing I didnt like was that many folks didnt respect tread lightly. I saw RVs parked on rocks to level. Keep it on the pavement!!

I went to Elkmont with my husband on our honeymoon. We had an amazing campsite right along the Little River. We were fortunate to see owls, a black bear and a wonderful great blue heron. Right near the campground is a trail where you can see old abandoned houses from the 1800s (?) when people took the rail to the Smokies to escape city life. It is a great glimpse into history. The only negative is there is no soap for washing your hands in the bathrooms.
