I enjoyed walking along the river that runs through the campground. The tent-only sites are nice and widely spaced. There are several trails near the campground so I could go car-free for several days and just enjoy the campground and surrounding area. Although the bathrooms are still closed, the hand washing stations make it tolerable.

Decent campground near Gatlinburg and Forestry visitor center and very close to Laurel Falls (which you must make a reservation for). Good location to travel to other places in the mountains. After we were already in the campground, we found it is a "dry" camp which means no running water or toilet or shower facilities. They did have relatively clean portalets and a sanitary water station with trickling water you foot pump. This should have been told to us when checking in and not found to be a surprise. Otherwise the place seems well run and the sites well maintained. Only other issue was they were doing maintenance on a work facility building and decided to crank up the paint sprayer generator at about 8:30 AM. Annoying but I guess it has to be done sometime, maybe a bit later in the day would have been more appropriate.

My husband and I stayed two nights at the campground. The area is beautiful, and we really enjoyed the synchronous fireflies. The major bathhouses were being renovated, so we missed having that access (especially running water for face and hand washing and teeth brushing). But, the portable potties were actually quite nice for what they were. We will definitely come back again and again.
