Great peaceful campground. Clean bathrooms. Only downfall is they said my kids couldnt have scooters (non-electric) ?! But bikes are ok to have? That I didnt get, but other than that everything was great! The ladies at the check in and camp store were so nice and helpful! The little river trail is great for kids! My kids really enjoyed getting to play in the water when we stopped for breaks when hiking (even though it was a bit chilly this time of year).

100% recommend. Only issue was that their website information about current bathrooms was incorrect and the wood they sold was too wet. Saw a bear right from our campsite and made spectacular memories. For sure will be back.

Fantastic location for hiking with several great trails in close proximity to the campground.

Beautiful campground. The walk-up campsite we were at was good for kids not wanting to be next to the road and also very close to the clean restrooms. Wood was available to purchase near the entrance along with ice. The nature trail was a short walk from our campsite.

Elkmont camping is deep in the forest. It is a magical place especially in the morning. The sun glows thorough the trees. It is also more cooler than in Gatlinburg at the hot weather.

we really enjoyed the camp ground and the experience overall was great. Even though the bathroom are closed the portal johns were cleaned daily.

I was surprised to see Ranger Rick out doing yard work and making all kind of noise as early as 7:30am. Some folks were still asleep and the camp ground was still real quiet except for the lawn mower.

We came at the perfect time to see the leaves change (the leaves cascaded as we set up camp and it really made the whole trip worth it right then and there). I'm grateful for the peaceful space we had to explore and will definitely be returning to see what other campgrounds at the Smoky Mountains are like!

Walk in at this spot was good. Furthest back from the parking spot. Near restrooms. Plenty of trees to hang hammocks. Food storage nearby. Overall great spot.

It was very nice, clean. Near the restrooms (good/bad-convenient but a little noisy). Good dish cleaning area. There is a drop off on one side of the foundation where the tent is set up and could cause a problem if someone accidentally steps out of their tent esp. at night. Otherwise well done camping area!Weve been camping at elkmont many times, very well done.

This was such a great campground to stay at! Excellent area-- far enough away from busy roads and tourist areas but also a short driving distance away from tourist areas in case you have different activities in mind! Great area for outdoor activities (it is a beautiful area, plus waterfalls, rafting, hiking, lookout points close by) and also family activities like mini golf, shopping, restaurants for dining, mountain lift for a view, and many more along the Gatlinburg strip nearby! We did a 5 mile hike I think it was and it was way harder than you'd think, all uphill and strenuous so keep that in mind. The campground is very clean and bear-safe. They have big lockable bear boxes made of metal for your food to stay in overnight or while you are away from camp. We went hiking kind of in the area and we did see a black bear and two cubs by the river! It is not just rumors like we thought, you can definitely see them. I say that excitedly, not scared. We are from Ohio so it was a very neat sight to see! :) The campground is very shaded so it's stayed cool on hot days. I will say some camp spots can be pretty tight so that is a negative to it, but if you book far enough in advance you can probably pick a spot that's a little more private. Also, a very scary thing (for us at least) was there are giant spiders lurking. Especially in the bathrooms! Which you can't really control, that's just nature. But it was still scary & cringey! No cell phone service btw, but that can be a good thing. Last thing-- it gets very dark at night (duh, in the middle of a forest, I know) so it would be best to travel to here during the day, if possible. We got in late at night so it still is doable & not really even a big deal-- just a heads up! The camp staff is super friendly. The man who came by to check the bathrooms and campsites in the morning was extremely sweet. Overall, a great experience & would definitely recommend! The best campsite you will probably find here for the price & area.
