We rented a camp sight at Elkmont to see the fireflies. We had a park ranger give us great directions and we were able to find the location and see them. They were wonderful! We didnt camp overnight but the restrooms were clean and well lit. We hope to go back and camp overnight soon.

Beautiful camp ground, nice sites tucked in the trees, clean bathrooms. Store for firewood and ice on site.

Didn’t realize how close our campsite was to two other campsites and the bathroom. Still a well maintained campground with good location. Also a heads up the bathrooms were temporarily closed and instead port-o-pots were set up for maintenance. This was not immediately obvious when booking a campsite but it is in the description a ways in!

Great campground. Lots of hiking trails nearby. Interesting history to explore. Restrooms under repair. Have to use portable toilets.

I'm a tent camper and at first was a little nervous to front country camp in the busiest national park in America, worried that the noise would ruin my experience (something I experienced greatly at Smokemont Campground). I however had a great front country camping experience here! I chose a "walk to" campsite, meaning I parked my car and had to walk to it (as opposed to parking right beside my tent as most spots are set up for here). I was nowhere near loud RVs and Generators, yet I could see my car not too far from my set up. This site has easy access to many excellent trails within the park. If you're bouncing back and forth between Cades Cove and Newfound Gap, this is a nice place to be. My suggestion is that if you're tent camping, try and get a "walk to" site, so that you're not stuck between loud vehicles and RVs. Was very pleased with my experience! Also, please drive slow around this campground and anywhere in this park, and do not tailgate others. Car crashes are common in this park due to reckless speeding and tailgaiting. There are also a lot of wild animals. You're on vacation and you're driving in elk and bear territory. Drive like it. Inability to store your food properly could result in dangerous problems with bears, with potential for serious injury, death, and fines. So do EVERYTHING the rangers and park tell you to. A failure to do so is disrespectful and dangerous to yourself, fellow campers, and wildlife.
