Bring your own soap to wash your hands with. Soap is not provided in the campground bathrooms.

Luckily my stay was post hurricane so I was able to stay a few extra days. Others cancelled and I was allowed three extra nights right on the river. The only thing that is not good is there are no showers. For some on extended stays this might be a problem.

Wonderfully sited in beautiful, quiet, forested campground mostly for tenters and vehicles that dont need water or electric hookups. Clean restrooms, firewood available, close to a variety of hikes and river. Like camping used to be!

Elkmont is a great campground. This was our 3rd time camping there.

Nice campground. Typical national park. Basic site. Table and fire pit. Check in was easy. Not a lot of privacy. Quiet.

The park is a very nice peaceful setting. One caution though: the dump station down at the welcome center has a very sizable dip which left my trailer connector on the tow vehicle somewhat mangled. No reason for such a deep dip.

We had a very nice campsite. Close to the bathroom. Though no showers are available, the bathroom was clean and the toilets flushed. There was a dish-washing station right beside the restroom, though no hot water. Easy in and out, just 6 miles from the Sugarlands Visitor Center. Staff at the campground were helpful.

Campground and site were nice. My only complaint was that the wood purchased at the camp store was not seasoned well. The wood at the Smokemont campground (horse riding store nearby) was certified dry (less than 20% moisture content) and burned great. Not the case for Elkmont. Lots of foam coming out of the ends of the logs and lots of tending required to keep it burning.

Excellent location to get out for day hikes, visiting Gatlinburg, etc. There is a camp store that has items such as campfire necessities, food items, and commonly used over the counter medications. The site itself was clean upon arrival with a generously sized area to put our tent. There was a fire ring and picnic table as well. The bathroom facilities were heated and clean with running water - no showers though.

We very much enjoyed our 4 night stay at Elkmont. Even though it is in the heart of the Smokies and this National Park is known for being super busy with many visitors, the campground itself was not crowded. The camping sites are spacious, quiet and in a beautiful setting.

Beautiful campground! Clean bathrooms! Loved the sound of the river near our site. Also worth seeing is the abandoned Daisy Town. So much history!

We were surprised that the restrooms we're closed with no email notification. They did have clean port a potties and hand washing stations, however.

Beautiful park! We visited in late September 2020 and the leaves were on the early side of the fall color shift. This campground has a stream running through it so you might hear it peacefully trickling. Clean bathrooms. Best National Park gift shop I've ever seen (and I've seen many). We drove a 4WD SUV with a popup tent trailer in via the Townsend Entrance Road (not Wears Valley) and although the signs told us to turn around, our rig was nimble enough to make it through (20 ft total when packed up). I imagine any larger RV would destroy the old bridge on the way in or get stuck on the twists and turns. We persisted because it was dark and the signage that told us to "TURN AROUND OMG YOU WON'T MAKE IT, DUMMY" did not offer any alternative route and GPS wasn't helpful either. It was dark and we were road-weary. Driving carefully and slowly did the trick. If any cars were going the other way, it may have been a different story. Backing our trailer into the campsite was a little more difficult compared to other places, but we got it on the second try. My front bumper was basically visiting the neighbors across the street in order to get the trailer aligned with our quite sloped driveway. The campsite did have a slight grade overall but leveling wasn't difficult once we got in. Surrounded by trees with a trickling stream... really nice! Then there's all the litter. Throughout the park, the pull over spots along the water and the views were not well-respected by visitors. People were friendly but they were leaving trash and toilet paper all over the place. Pretty sure you're not supposed to pee literally next to a water source. DO BETTER, TOURISTS! Also, in the middle of a pandemic, very few folks were wearing masks unless they were inside the gift shop. We crossed 18 states and TN was the worst for COVID safety. Again, TN had by far the most litter. Some people, huh!

Lovely campground! The river was especially refreshing on hot summer days when you have no showers!

A great park and campground. Next time I will try the campsite a bit back from the western entrance.... with the village nearby.
