The campground was very full the weekend we went but everyone was very respectful and it was a very pleasant experience. We were aware that there are no restrooms. The sites are pretty close together but it didnt bother me. Overall it was a good experience

We had a wonderful trip to Elkmont just like we have in the past. It is a beautiful place that everyone should experience at least once in their life.

Beautiful! We were thrilled to get a spot last minute, and loved walking and biking around to see other spots we'd like to stay in in the future. Playing in the river and watching the lightning bugs were a highlight.

The campsites were not well kept. Grass needed to be cut, some places were over a foot tall. They mowed some but definitely needed more. The porta potty’s were not ideal. But were cleaned regularly and stocked. Cant wait until the sewage is completed. The campsites were nicely spaced. We enjoyed the river and the hiking. The campground was close to actives outside campground. Needed more generator spaces. Will definitely be back.

Elmont was our first camping experience in the Smokies, nearly 30 years ago. It continues to be our favorite. The A-F loops, though changed somewhat through the years, still feel the same as when we took that first trip; The boulders, hemlocks, Little River, etc., would appear to be unchanged (even though we all know that they have changed!) In fact, I've photographed the same pair of trees recently that I first photographed over 25 years ago. Online reservations have changed the game, mostly for the better, though not entirely. The only "star-deduction", in this review, relates to the pothole situation within the campground. While I have a suspicion that these repairs are soon to come, considering the massive repave effort of the past year, the holes in the campground are threatening to small-medium sized travel-trailers. I must temper my desire for such repairs, though, as I fear that they may only come as a huge "upgrading" of the campground itself; I feel that, going the way of many Cades Cove Campground sites, with smooth, level, paved driveways, would really rob Elkmont of some of its perceived rustic nature. Over our February weekend campout there, we walked around the closed B-F loops, enjoying nature's subtle "reclaiming" of many of the sites; deadfall branches, moss on the old pavement, etc. That said, Elkmont remains our favorite "home away from home". For the newcomer, the old Elkmont Community, along Jake's Creek and under preservation and renovation, offer's a great glimpse into the history of the area. Hiking is abundant and glorious. Every stream in the Park holds trout (despite seemingly high angler-pressure) and they still really mean it, when they enforce food-storage regulations!!Use the recreation.gov reservation platform and you'll have an effortless visit.
