Staff was friendly as usual and Rangers were present patrolling the camp grounds. Elkmont is always a fun place to camp.

The ranger said this is the best camp site and I couldn't agree more! Definitely bring your own hand soap for the bathroom! We'll be booking this site again soon!

Elkmont is my favorite campground. Bathrooms are clean, sites are spaced decently and everyone has always been respectful. The elkmont nature trail is accessible from the campground you can also walk or ride your bike to the ghost town.

The campground was clean and perfect sized for a quick weekend camping trip! The staff was super nice, the only thing is I wish Id known about the heat treated wood policy beforehand. So dont forget to check before you get there!

Elkmont is a well run, well maintained campground. Check-in was fast, but I did prefer when you could pick up your site pass yourself.

We had a quick one-night stay here in the B loop and it was great! The campsites seem a bit more private than the riverside campsites. The privy was nicely maintained. Trash cans were conveniently located. The rangers provided clear directions about how to make it to our next location and were very helpful with check-in and check-out. We'll be back to visit Elkmont Campground again soon for a little longer stay next time!

Quiet and clean campground. The check-in staff was very friendly and helpful. We could hear the stream all night, very peaceful. Also, the bathrooms were kept very clean. A great respite from the busyness of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Very easy to check in, staff was friendly, and the campground was perfect. My husband and I stayed and did more of the primitive style camping but I was also grateful that there were bathrooms very close by no matter where you were located. We were located in section B close to the river and it was so peaceful. We were also very close to walking trails and it was also very beautiful out there with a little history. We will come back to visit Elk Mont again.

We had a great time! The campground was awesome with the river and smaller streams nearby and the nature trail within walking distance from the campground. There were also several longer hiking trails near the campground.

Our stay at Elkmont Campground was incredible. We stayed for a week in June 2020 and even though it was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic the park staff was attentive to keeping public areas clean and maintaining proper social distancing. While Elkmont is the largest campground in GSMNP it didnt feel like it to us. There was ample space between our site and those around us and at times it felt like we were the only ones there. Even though we didnt reserve a riverfront site we could still hear the Little River and it made for great natural background noise for sleeping. As a family of five who tent camps out of a small SUV space is at a premium and the on-site camp store proved very helpful for firewood and ice. The price was very reasonable and less than a dollar more than what youd pay for these items at any big box store. If you have small children then the nearby Elkmont Nature Trail is a must-do. At only 8/10 mile long with a small elevation rise even our 2-year old twins were able to complete 3/4ths of the trail before wanting to be carried. Cades Cove was a stunning place to visit, but be prepared to sit in your vehicle for a while. It took us about 4 1/2 hrs to complete the whole loop with an hour and a half break at the Visitor Center for a picnic and some exploring. It was worth it, though, as we were able to see two bears and four elk. Clingmans Dome offered some of the most incredible views to be seen in the Eastern US and is not to be missed. Parking can be a little difficult when busy and you might have to walk a little ways before the real fun begins. From the parking lot to the top of Clingmans Dome is a short 1/2mi with an elevation rise that will make it feel much longer. The kids made it about 200ft before needing to be carried the rest of the way up. Definitely bring a child carrier if you have little ones because strollers are not recommended. The view is ABSOLUTELY worth the effort.

Wish the sites were a little more private but the location is great, the sites are well kept and the staff is great. Very nice to have the little store right at the campground.

We camp here every year when the crowds are low in late September and love the campsite we always pick. It is a great time of year to camp at Elkmont, and we enjoy the quiet. All of the staff have been pleasant, especially the campground volunteers.
