Beautiful spot. River is loud enough to cover noise from other sites.

This campground and site were the highlight of our road trip! The grounds are set up really well, the staff was friendly and most importantly the site itself. Well shaded, the sound of the river and a great way to cool off during the hot summer.

Love the sound of the river adjacent to the site! The fireflies are magical!

We love camping at Elkmont, this was one of the few opportunities we had to snag a river site! It was beautiful, and we saw several birds (owls, herons) fishing in the late afternoon/early evening. We normally come here in the fall, we loved seeing the park during its summer peak! The campsite was lovely, and the trash bin was right off the parking spot, making cleaning up much easier. I would recommend this spot!

Great laid back campground to enjoy nature and quiet. The river and creek offer soothing sound to get phenomenal sleep.

We love camping at Elkmont. Its always peaceful. We love getting a spot by the river so that we can sit and listen to it all evening.

Checking in to our campsite at Elkmont campground was flawless. We were informed that there was a bear in the camp but a trap had been set for it. We were made aware of all of the precautions and how to secure our food items. The availability of ice and firewood was much appreciated. They even have an after hours payment envelope honor system that helped us with buying ice when we needed it most. Our campsite B-8 was awesome. It was right next to the river so we had white noise to help drown out any other campers noise. The area of the Elkmont Campground is beautiful. There are enough campsites that you don’t feel on top of each other. We opted for B-8 because it was next to the River but also because it was a generator free zone. There was a camper down from us that was using his generator but at least he waited until 8 am to start it. We were aware of no electricity and showers. We prepared for both. A shower house would be so greatly appreciated. The restrooms were adequate and spread throughout the camp that availability was nice wherever you were.

We have hiked many of the trails in the Smokey’s. On this trip we hiked Meigs Creek trail by The Sinks. It has 18 river/stream crossings that were very doable by hopping rocks. We also hiked the entire Cades Cove Loop Road on Wednesday when it was closed to vehicle traffic. We would recommend this definitely. If you have a bike even better. We walked it counterclockwise but I would recommend walking it clockwise. We also visited Daisy Town and were amazed that all of the structures are completely finished! We have watched the progress over the years. We ventured up Jake’s Creek Trail and saw that another building is being rehabbed! Wonderful! That hike was Jake’s Creek Trail to Cucumber Gap Trail to Little River Trail. A very nice loop.
All in all our experience camping and hiking was just what we expected…..FANTASTIC!

Tent camped at Elkmont in site B8, right next to the creek. Only tenters next to us (no generators allowed here), no sites across the way, and with the creek on our back side it felt private with mostly the constant sound of the creek. Bathrooms were closed due to sewer issues so we needed to use porta pottys. That was unexpected but manageable. Ranger suggested hike to Andrew's Bald and that was great. Trailhead is at Clingman's Dome which is crazy crowded but this trail was very quiet and a beautiful hike. Sitting at the Bald felt like being in sacred space and the other people there were all respectful and quiet.

Unfortunate that the restrooms are still closed but at least they have clean port o potties. Great staff and we had an amazing spot on the river

Fantastic spot! The only issue was the bathrooms.

Elkmont is a great place to camp. However, over the past few months they have been working on the restrooms, in which they are out of service. Be prepared for not having access to restrooms, the port-o-john's are in bad shape.

Beautiful Natural landscape and park. Auto tours take a VERY long time as people stop to look at wildlife and cause a back up that can last upwards of 30-45 minutes. We saw one woman get out of her car and go into the woods, closer to a blackberry who was lying down, to get a better picture. Who are these types of people?? There is no signage discouraging people to cause traffic back ups.
ElKMONT Campground was pretty disappointing as it is the largest and most populated yet their bathroom facilities were closed. Portapotties were supplied. We believe they were emptied every 2,3 days which is not enough. They were frequently full. The volunteer and/or rangers also felt free to roam our personal campsite and touch/take personal property as they pleased when we were off our site.

Reserved campsite was occupied upon arrival. Was made to setup in a different site, surrounded by generator-powered RVs. No firewood, restrooms, water, or an ability to make reservations day of. Not impressed.
