My daughter and I camped at Elkmont in early November and had a wonderful stay. Our campsite was on the river and it was very clean and we had plenty of space to spread out. With no electricity, it gets very dark when the sun goes down, so make sure to bring camplights.

Stayed in early July. Excellent site, bigger than described. We fit with a 13 foot camper + 19 foot SUV with several feet to spare. It is inclined but not terribly (didn't even use risers). It's right by the river, which is very soothing. NOAA radio (highly recommend) alerted us to a flood warning one night but with Starlink we were able to learn it was for streams and creeks so the river was not in danger. Still, it was pretty brutal rain and I watched a particular rock in the river like a hawk most of the night. Saw several fireflies in the evenings but no bears or deer. Do make sure to put all scented items and food in the car though, there are no bear boxes.

We LOVED this campground! It was peaceful and quiet, but in a perfect location for a quick drive to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, hiking trails, and even on the way to Cades Cove. Our kids loved playing in the river since we were on one of the river sites. We plan on making this an annual trip!

B7. Excellent spot right next to the creek. Drounds out neighbors and most people driving by even for a light sleeper. Way to cold this year. 2020 was swimming weather, this year was nuts.

Very helper Ranger helped us secure a beautiful site. We do wish that the park provided wifi, at least in the visitors center. A cold shower would be nice.

Loved being on a riverside site and falling asleep listening to the river. Site B7 was shaded and stayed cool in mid July. The proximity to several nearby trails was also a plus. I had planned to hike every day but the site was so pleasant I spent a morning just relaxing beside the river. Other campers were so friendly, one brought me some firewood when I was having issues getting mine to burn. Another brought me some delicious Russian food he had prepared. The Little River tail is one of my favorites, very easy to access from the campground.

Love the green Smokies, esp when I can camp along the Little River.

Great tent sites. Firewood on prem was expensive

The camp area is not too far from the Gatlinburg entry to GSMNP. Easy to check in and find the site right on Little River. Saw plenty of people tubing down the river.
The tent pad was large, as was the grill/fire pit, and the driveway was easy to back the car into. Very convenient. We didn't make use of the picnic table as trees nearby were too widely spaced for the tarp shelter (we set up near the trees close by the river bank).
The restrooms were not too far away, though only portable toilets were in use at the time. Generally were kept clean but did find one left in awful state by some other campers.
The convenience store owner was friendly and helpful to make change for the vending machines.
Plenty of walking and hiking trails to use nearby or a short drive away, but the Sugarlands visitor center was too crowded to park and stop by (a testament to how popular the Great Smokies are).
Would definitely come back to use this camping area on future "backyard" trips.
A gem found eastward on Highway 321 in Cosby TN is the Apple Orchard market and restaurant (yum).

We had a wonderful stay. All rangers and staff were beyond helpful and friendly. We knew going into this trip that the bathrooms were closed, but the camp store was open and had ice and firewood available daily. I'm not sure why I saw reviews about campground staff being particular or sticklers about rules. The rules are clearly posted and communicated in advance, and everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly.

The campgrounds are beautiful, and I highly recommend making it up the road to see Historic Elkmont. We also had our first (from a far distance) bear sighting on the Elkmont Nature Trail just across the road, and this was our fifth visit to the park over the past few years.

We cannot wait to camp here again and plan to make it at least a yearly tradition from here on out.

Stayed in site B07 on the Little River. The extra fee for river sites is well worth it. I was wondering whether the site would be too close to the campground entrance and be a high traffic area, but no worries. Too bad it was not peak time for the synchronous fireflies - will have to try again another year. I thought the 8 days of the “Firefly Event” might be a zoo, but it was less busy and less crowded than I anticipated. Rangers were even handing out red cellophane to cover flashlight lenses in a firefly viewing area-nice touch!

The toilets were all closed because of sewer work at the campground. Plenty of portable outhouses were available but not quite the same.

Our campsite was B07. The site is right by a creek which was a nice white noise. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk, but it wasn't a huge deal. There is not a water spigot right by the site. Beautiful campground!

A great campground nestled in the beauty of the wilderness. If you're up for "roughing it" with no electric and no showers, this is the best place to be. Perfectly situated near amazing hiking trails. We loved our stay at Elkmont Campground.
