Great spots by the river. When camping in April many of the restrooms were closed resulting in lines and sometimes long distances to the restrooms. The walk-in sites sure could use bear proof boxes at each site like Shenandoah NP. Hauling coolers and food supplies back and forth to vehicles several times a day is not fun. Upgrade like Shenandoah and make camping better!

Very peaceful campground, great sites, a lot are on a river. Flush toilets and running water in the bathroom was an excellent surprise. 10/10 would come back. Definitely travel up to Clingmans Dome or hike a bit on the Appalachian Trail, the views are incredible.

The nearby creek is beautiful. Bring a rain fly!

Great site, great campground. Staff was friendly and helpful. Seems like there are fewer/smaller bathrooms compared to other campgrounds.

It was our first time camping in the snow. Wasn't planned but it was a welcome surprise. Can't wait to do it again. So glad the bathrooms are functioning again. We'll be back as soon as we can.

Very nice time.
I was surprised that all of the bathrooms were closed, and port-a-potties were provided instead.

In previous years the bathrooms were open. This year there were only port-a-potties and hand washing stations. I hope the bathrooms are repaired and open next year.

Campsites B2, 3, &4 were unbelievable - a peninsula for our group with creeks on both sides. My son has been camping with me for 7 years and summed it up when he said the beat site we’ve ever had. Bring a hammock - it’s even better.

Our walk-in site was an absolutely beautiful location along the Little River: quiet, secluded, and spacious with the constant rush of water in the background making for an incredibly relaxing two nights. The campground as a whole was only about a third full while we were there, and very peaceful.

Unfortunately, the toilets were all closed for sewage system repairs (it would have been nice if this was posted somewhere accessible in advance of our arrival), but the porta-potties brought in as temporary replacements were fairly decent. The campground concession was also closed (also not advertised as such), which meant we had to spend extra time driving into Gatlinburg to buy wood and extra ice.

Overall, Elkmont was a lovely few nights, and we wouldn't hesitate to return—especially for one of the waterfront sites.

Nice site. Didnt like having to walk part two tents to get to it but it wasnt a huge deal. Overall a nice place to camp.

This campsite is singularly beautiful- surrounded by water on both sides. We fell asleep to the roar of the Little River and it was magnificent. Staff was conscientious about COVID19 and practiced social distancing and kept common areas sparkling clean. Grounds were pretty full but not crowded. Cannot thank GSMNP enough for the chance to spend time relaxing like this with my family during such a stressful time.

It's beautiful but be sure to check the hours of the office and store to ensure that you'll arrive when they're open, or you'll waste a lot of the day waiting for them!

Excellent camping facilities with a nice store for key items like firewood. The trails above this site are excellent for day hikes. Reserve your site early.

Elkmont was a great campground easily accessible on the north side of the park. It didn't feel overly busy even though we were there in the middle of the summer. There were many hikes available right from the campground, including short nature hikes and longer half day or more hikes. There were also little gems like a set of historic cabins to go see.
