Nice reliable sites, every pad even and the same, a fire ring and a picnic table, its a shame you can't move the table, but thats a minor point, bathrooms were clean, some were missing soap dispensers for some reason, but again a minor thing, bring your own soap. There is ice and firewood available but you would save money getting those in town on your way back in. It was pretty quiet when we were there, this is our second trip, and a full 5 days this time. saw some resident turkeys, they are always wandering the campground, saw a bear on the way into town :) There is such an assortment of things to do in the area, something for anyone. We love doing the caves, did anakeesta this year and the new astra lumina which I loved. The views in the mountains are great. Big tip: Bring earplugs! The cicadas are quite loud. Wife loves to visit the elkmont abandoned town, it's been a few years since our last visit but the town is all restored now (some were closed last time) The river is very low this year which was a shame. But this is our favourite campground in this area. Will be back again next year!

Everything was wonderful minus two things: no showers and the price for the wood/ice was highway robbery! I wouldve taken a shower with cold water and on a timer no problem, but not to have any showers especially when camping/ hiking for seven days was trying. I took dips in the Little river, but it would have been nice to shower with some soap.

I watched the park rangers enforce the rule (several times) of not leaving your campsite with the cooler left behind. I’m very thankful for that. With so many bears & other wildlife around, we all need to do our part to protect not just ourselves but the wildlife as well. Thank GSMNP!

When I arrived at the site it was covered in several inches of leaves making it impossible to see the best place to park my camper. The tent pad, fire ring, and a curb were all that were visible above the leaves. I got out of my truck and cleared the leaves off the large rocks that marked the entrance but it wasn't reasonable to clear the whole pad with my feet, especially since vehicles wanting to exit the campground (drive past my truck) were beginning to line up. I got parked and setup and hiked a trail nearby. When I returned, the person with whom I had registered at check-in came up and told me I was parked to close to the tent pad (the camper was about three feet from the pad). I asked where he wanted me to move the camper to and he asked if I wanted him to draw lines in the leaves. When I told him that would be extremely helpful he got back on his cart and drove away. I don't know if everyone in a uniform is a Ranger but most of them at this park are extremely rude and unhelpful. There were two young people in uniform that were very pleasant and helpful but I didn't see them that much. One day I heard a leaf blower but it was just clearing the area around the host's site and a residence nearby. My point is, if where one parks their camper is so important then it is important to clear those areas of leaves. I never witnessed any maintenance taking place on this property.

Nice campground, good sites, there was a very nasty issue with the main washroom, Other than that the ghost town was cool to visit, and the hikes were very nice in campground, I would recommend this campground, just use one of the other washrooms.

Most spectacular park. Immaculately kept. We saw bear everyday we were there. We will be back.

Great location in the park and quiet with wood for sale on-site. Only criticism as they closed all the bathrooms down at once for renovation, there were port-a-potties with wash stations but wasn't informed in advance and they could have split that up so only a few were closed at any one time.

The bathroom facilities were closed. No toilet or shower, no potable water. Also, the camp store was closed. I find it hard to believe that these issues could not be dealt with in a way that was not so inconvienent. While we were there we saw no work being done.
