Favorite campground. Clean. River and hiking fun. (The only negative is most of the campground allows generators from 8 AM to 8 PM, very loud and annoying) All the river sites allow generators, so for tent camping and wanting to camp on the river is not enjoyable!

We loved that this is primitive- no electricity- water- cell phone or wifi service! You can completely decompress and relax away from the outside world and its noise. Yet Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and even Townsend are not far away if you want a fix of civilization. We love the scenic drive to Cades Cove and a refreshing dip in the river-

Been coming down for over 30 years! Love it there, like a second home. Concessions is getting a bit pricey though...

It was nice to see a host on site for a couple of days. The campground was full, but we saw no ranger. With the weather turning warm, I was surprised the bear-proofing wasn't emphasised as strenuously as in the past. I know the camp stores are privately operated, but their accurate operating hours should be noted somewhere in the booking process.

Still one of my favorite campgrounds - in my favorite national park - and I've been to a lot of them all across this beautiful country. I've been coming here since my parents brought me as a child in the 1960's. I love everything about it but it's well past time to AT LEAST allow people the ability to make a cell phone call! I actually love it there's no internet connectivity because if it was offered that's all people would be doing sitting around the camp sites. It's nice to be able to go to ONE PLACE in this country today where everybody isn't walking around with their face in their phone!! But in case of emergencies (and my wife and I had a near emergency at Elkmont the last time we were there....) it would really be nice to be able to make a phone call. It's hard to believe that in 2019 you still can't even do that. It could actually be the difference is saving somebody's life someday. They don't even have the pay phones by the bridge anymore!! YES I was able to walk to the ranger station and use the one lousy phone they have in the campground.....but it was a pain in the you-know-what. And what if the volunteer who was manning the station hadn't been there?? (the ranger was off that week attending a family funeral.) What if it had been in the middle of the night and the volunteer was back sleeping soundly at his campsite?? It's truly a ridiculous situation that needs to be addressed ASAP. I know there's a lot of stubborn, Sierra Club types running the NPS these days but this needs to change. Isn't there a way to have phone service without the internet?? - Rex from Maitland, Fl
