This review is about the interaction of Cosby and Recreation dot gov reservation system. When reserving some sites are tent only although the camp host said my camper van would fit these sites. On recreation dot gov some sites were camper van or tent and some RV only however when I examined these sites there was no clear reasoning for these designations. I think this is a problem with the recreation dot gov reservation system and the information provided by the campground. I want and need more specifics of which sites I can reserve. For example is it tent only because there is no parking, or can one stay in their camper van? I have seen this from other campgrounds as well that are designated tent only but when I called and spoke with the rangers was told my camper van would be fine there.

Enjoyed hiking the trails, the quietness and remoteness of the campground and the beauty of the stream.

We stayed on the B loop of Cosby Campground last week and it was gorgeous! We have a hybrid trailer so did not use the bathrooms but the sites were arranged very well for privacy. Our site was surrounded by the woods with a small stream running down one side. It was clean and quiet with some trails coming right off the loop. We will definitely be back.

I was very glad to be at an out of the way national park campground in Cosby. This mostly tent only campground was very quiet and pretty. It rained all 4 days we were there and the nature trail was like a rain forest - very pretty. The creek was beautiful. While out of the way, we had very long days sight seeing and the crowds were horrendous, so we had to cut back on sights like Cades Cove because of the distance and the crowds, but were able to take full advantage of east side park sights like the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway and the Elk.

Our stay at Cosby Campground was excellent. The check-in process was easy, even without someone there, as they left the reservation ticket at the booth. Campsite B88 was perfect for our needs in a truck tent with 2 people. The site is a bit secluded as there's a small stream on one side and a small hill with trees on the other, so you aren't directly next to the other campsites. Those features made the site feel a little smaller, so wouldn't recommend it for a group much larger than our 2 people, but we enjoyed ourselves. We were right across from the clean restrooms as well. The whole campground was clean and quiet. We hiked to the Mt. Cammerer lookout tower and the Low Gap Trail was a minute walk from our site.
