After spending 3 nights in Cades Cove campground, Cosby was a world away and completely different. Basic campground but pleasant and with hikes around that I had not done before. I didn't use the restroom as I have one in my rig. Able to get cell service out at the turn in to the campground by the GSMNP sign. At the site there was no AT&T or T-Mobile service even with a WeBoost.

Very quite campground away from the craziness of Gatlinburg.

Fortunately we stayed one night at Cosby (B) when it was empty huge campground that would normally be too busy for us - but the ambience of forest and hills and facility conveniences were great! We do not make reservations as when we take road-trips we wander off our itinerary and stay extra nights when we can - finding hiking trails etc. Fortunately the camp host was available when we arrived to learn tge procedure at Cosby is to only have an online reservation. Even though they guided us to drive back out and find a little gravel pull off where supposedly we could get a signal to make a reservation - this was stressful for us - luckily we had enough of a signal to do this else with all the empty campsites we would have not been able to stay. The reservation system is good for big rigs Im sure but for most of us there are many tines at other campgrounds weve noticed and heard sites were paid for/reserved but end up being no-shows - not like the forfeiture of an expensive hotel night. It seems to us snd others that campers would be more favored than big rigs and groups proportionally with unreserved campsites than all sites reserved and left empty. I do understand that doing online reservations only allows an easier system of logging all info one time than tge hosts handling this - collecting money and filling out forms that they submit daily - however the hosts are the eyes and ears on the ground and surely can learn to do electronic record keeping to register campers.

We loved it here. We were looking for wildflowers and found a couple of dozen different species. Henwallow Falls was a wonderful lunch spot (suggest taking a slo-mo video of the falls) until a large group showed up around 2:30 pm probably part of the SMWFP. The restrooms were clean as was the campground. We didn't see litter anywhere.

We spent 4 nights on loop B campsite 75 and it was very nice. This campground is a little farther away from a town but there is a store just outside the campground that sells the forgotten essentials and firewood. There are several varying length and intensity walking trails you can access from the campground. No hookups but the bathrooms are clean with flushing toilets and there is potable water and a dump station as you enter the campground. My only con is that I wish there were showers.

Online maps state that you'll be able to fill your RV with potable water, but none could be found. If towing anything larger than the smallest camper, don't do this campground. It's easy enough to access, but the campground itself is so narrow as to be virtually impractical, especially since all the vehicles park alongside the road, rather than in their campsites. Was EXTREMELY crowded when we visited. Wouldn't recommend if you're trying to get away from it all.

Bathrooms were very clean and in the process of being painted by very pleasant park employees. Showers would be a tremendous addition but I understand what the difficulties would be i/e producing hot what with the only available utility, electricity. Beautiful country and well maintained

Quiet, uncrowded campground in the trees. Several good hiking trails adjacent. Nice facilities.
