Cosby is a beautiful campground but the campsites are very close together. I have stayed here many times but the problem is the staff does not drive around and check the campsites at all. Every night there were campers staying up to 2am being loud and keeping everyone around them awake. So many people who camp at the campgrounds in the Smoky Mountains do not know camping etiquette. I believe private campgrounds would be a better choice. If you decide to camp here, be sure to bring ear plugs and a loud sound machine to drown out the loud noise.

We stayed on the outer perimeter (#74) - These sites are beautiful, spacious and shaded. One thing we were concerned about was the people collecting firewood. The sites on either side of us spent up to an hour collecting wood in the forest. I understand the need to limit people bringing firewood to the parks, but if you collect wood, please respect you are in a natural forest and do your best not to disturb the natural ecology. We just chose not to have a fire.

Quiet location, no cell service, easy drive to Gatlinburg, favorite campground because it is normally not crowded.
