Beautiful campground in the Smokies. Relatively quiet. Very well maintained. Note: I had no cell phone sevice until I reached the bottom of Campground Road.

We were nervous coming to camp as the weather was predicted to be in the 90's the entire week with feels like temperatures reaching 110. Thankfully the campground is very well shaded and although it was still hot it was much more reasonable than we initially worried it might be. The facilities at Cosby campground were well maintained, with clean bathrooms in very convenient locations. There were plenty of hiking trails with trailheads right at the campground with was fantastic. We loved Hen Wallow Falls! We hiked there and ate lunch at the base of the falls which we had all to ourselves for a good chunk of time. I haven't stayed at other campsites in the Smokies, however we chose Cosby because online searches said it was peaceful and further away from some of the more popular and touristy areas of the park. It did not disappoint! After driving through Pigeon Forge we were very happy to be a bit further away and really enjoy some peace and quiet in nature as that was the experience we were looking for in our trip. Loved it! Would definitely come back again for another camping trip!

Everything was good but we had some confusion about potable water. None of the spouts worked. The dish washing sink worked but we weren’t sure if that was potable? No info in the pamphlet or online. The ranger was gone by the time we arrived.

The one night I spent in Cosby Campground was uneventful, but I should add the next five days I spent in the back country of the Smokies was very disappointing. The park is barely maintaining the front country sites and doing nothing to maintain trails, bridges, or campsites in the back country. I have been traveling in the back country since the mid-nineteen eighties and have always harbored a great love for the park ... but not anymore. I probably won't be back.

I love this campground so much, however, I do believe the campground has to be more enforcing of animals. We arrived to our site and there was dog poop from previous campers all over the lot. We always have to bring our own TO too, bathhouse is always out of soap and TP! With that being said, small price to pay for such a beautiful area.
