Excellent. This campground was a little piece of heaven in the fall. Gravel base for your tent, picnic table, and fire ring. Very clean. Great hiking access to Cosby creek, AT, and Mount Cammerer. Some fly fishing opportunities. The water level was super low when I went in October so bring 6x tippet and the smallest dry flies you can find. Fish spook on sight of anything Bathrooms with sinks, dishwashing station, and flush toilets. No power outlets in the bathrooms, so come prepared. No showers and no soap. The beauty of this campground is that there are no crowds and all nearby trails are accessible without driving. Mt. Cammerer lookout tower is breathtaking. Its a long journey but so worth it. I will be back!

Nice campground if you don't mind being a ways away from civilization.

My trip was mid-late September and it was perfect. The nights and mornings were cool but comfortable. Perfect for fire and sleep. Place was clean and quiet. There is a nice little nature trail along the side of the campground for a short walk with kids or someone who couldn't make a longer hike. There are some much longer hikes too if you have the energy for those. Trails typical of the area, easy to follow yet moderately difficult with rocks, roots and elevation. Just what I love.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky at night and the sun was near new so the sky was dark and filled with stars. From the campground I did not find a great spot to see the stars, wish I found a more open place but finding sections here and there while walking down the road was still nice.
If camping in a tent, I would recommend a pad as the spots are in gravel and it is never fully comfortable. I have an inflatable pad that helped a lot. Spots are pretty level and raised more than the surrounding so if it were to rain I think you'd be good.
Bathrooms were kept clean and have running water which is always a nice luxury when camping. Also have spots to get water for dish washing. Do it here and clean well to minimize the chance of attracting bears.
Morning was clear, was no fog and there was no dew on the tent. Didnt need to dry it off before packing which was a huge plus. Don't know if that is because of the time of year or what but it makes the departure more enjoyable.
There is not much nearby so get all your essentials, food and all before you come in. Get your firewood nearby, heat treated, they'll ask you if it is.
