We had a great time at Cosby Campground. This was our first time going to the Smoky Mountains, and we would definently return. When we first arrived, check in was a breeze. Just had to tell the ranger our name and what campsite we reserved (B26). We had to read the bear/ food safety agreement then we were set to go. When we got to our campsite, it was clean. The tent pads are kept up well, and the fire pit was cleaned out. The downside to these campsites are that the vast majority of them have some type of stairs either leading up or down to the campsite. Fortunately we came prepared with a standard tent to set up (we were hoping to use the rooftop tent, but the stairs did not allow). The campsite we stayed at was also in very close proximity to B25 and shared a staircase. These two sites would be great for a couple families or friends staying together. The bath house was close to the campsite and was very clean. There was also a sink to wash dishes right outside of the bathhouse. The website did say there was potable water at the campground, but we never saw the spigot for it (we brought our own 5 gallon container of water). The campground had multiple trails that you could hike on, with various difficulty levels. We were able to hike a new trail everyday we were there. We were about a 20-25 minute drive from Gatlinburg and one of the main entrances of the National Park. After driving through Gatlinburg, I was greatful we chose to stay at Cosby, away from the chaos that was in the town. We would highly recommend this campsite for anyone looking to stay away from crowds, traffic and enjoy the Smoky Mountains.
