Tent pad fit two smaller tents and we were able to park right by our site. Wooded and shady which kept us cool on the hot days. Plenty of bear proof dumpsters and restrooms. Not a super busy area, but quite a few campers were present when we went. We had a great time!

I live fairly near Cosby Creek Campground, so have an opportunity to go pretty much when I wish. I particularly love fall camping there, and early spring. Summer can get warm during the day, but there is a lot of foliage/tree cover during that time. It is high enough elevation for summer nights to be decently cool enough for good sleeping (I sleep warm and like cool temps). The camp is large, and can hold lots of campers - but overall the spacing is far enough for tolerable or even very good privacy. Smoke from nearby campfires can flow into your space, though. There are enough baths/wash houses without anyone waiting (much if at all - I never have). I've not used any of the electric hookups, but those spaces seem widely spaced, also. Clean, fairly quiet even with dogs and kids. Great for first timers, or those seeking easy trail access for themselves or kids. Lots of interesting wildlife visuals and info. Can get to the Appalachian Trail pretty quickly. For anyone limited in mobility, but still able to do some hiking, there are very nice scenery and cataracts/falls in short distances. Its a great place to go for some outdoor experience, some breaking in of new equipment (or yourself) without getting far away from civilization. I use ATT for cell, and my only signal is at the camp entrance but it isn't too far away to drive to. I have seen some using their cells in the camp, and speculate they are using Verizon or something other than ATT. Some really nice, short kid friendly trails, too; and there are some horse trails. Not that far from Gatlinburg and Asheville, and other locales, so day excursions are quite doable. It really is a good rounded-out campground for a national park - far enough away from massive crowds, close enough to see what they see, and see some of what makes the Smokies unique if you get into the woods. Highly recommend.
