Cades Cove is always one of our favorite campgrounds, we enjoy visiting. However, we were extremely disappointed that vehicles were allowed on the road, as it was posted on the website that it was for pedestrians and bicyclists only, on the day we reserved. We needed to reserve months in advance to get a campsite on Tuesday-Thursday. We drove quite a distance and were never notified that there had been a chance of dates.

I was concerned about the restrooms after some of the reviews, but they were just fine. Lovely fellow campers, clean well stocked store, and beautiful loop drive?

We came in after hours, set up quick and walked around a bit. The people we met were so friendly, and were mostly hikers like us. This was out first trip to the Smokies in the fall, and the color was near peak, incredible!

Drive the cades cove loop. Ride your bike on the loop and run the loop.

We are a long time patron of Cades Cove. My earliest memories date back to the mid sixties. I am glad to see the improvements of the camp ground, it is truly a special place. However it saddens me that it cost twice as much to have a camp fire than it did to stay in then camp ground. I understand the importance of protecting the mountains, but the misguided policies of fire wood has little if any value to protect the forest. It has been proven the vast majority of infestation comes from the vehicle, cars, trailers etc. The fire wood policy is another rule made by people who either don't understand and or do not care of its effect. The only benefit is the profit being made by the people providing the service. I live two counties south of the park in there same mountain range. You can walk from the camp ground to my house and never leave the mountains. I wonder how the bugs learned where the county lines are. This is just another feel good policy that benefits nothing but the pockets of a few.
