Camp site B71 is a tent only campsite. Beside and behind the tent pad is a lot of poison ivy. If you like to hang a hammock this camp site has two trees right next to the road or a cluster of trees back in the poison ivy zone. I ended up putting down some ground cover and hanging back there. So far I've only got two small patches of poison ivy rash on a couple fingers. There is generator usage in this area so be prepared so hear the sound of generators during non-quiet hours. That didn't bother me that much. I have a soft top jeep so securing food/drinks was a concern for me. The closest food storage lockers are over by camp site C43. The parking apron for this site is small with large rocks preventing you from getting far off the pavement. With the guy's truck across the street protruding into the pavent and my jeep off as far as a dared there was a pinch point for traffic flow. There were a couple nervous moment when a big camper was inching by the side of my jeep. It's a little crowded but expected, especially on a holiday weekend. Everyone around my site were friendly and well mannered. Quite hours were observed without any issues. The restroom on this road could have been cleaner but I had no issues using the facilities. If you forgot something at home or need something urgently the camp store may have what you need, however, be ready to pay and substantial price hike. A 4 pack of waterproof matches that you can get at a store in town for $1.99 will cost you $5 at the camp store. Overall my expectations were met. Ive stayed in NPS campgrounds previously so i knew what to expect.

The natural setting itself was gorgeous. Great hiking and we saw a bear. However.... Our tent campsite was nestled between 2 RVs running generators from 8am-8pm. This was a nightmare. The park is crowded and overrun with baby-boomers. Oh well

The ranger was extremely obnoxious when we were trying to check in. It was so bad that it really put a damper on out arrival to a trip we had been very excited about. The site we had chosen appeared to be the last in the row on the map, but was actually the 2nd to last with the neighbors being very close. Many of the sites looked to be uncomfortably Close to the ones next to them. The restrooms were not up to the cleanliness standards in the rest of the park. We love GSMP, live in the area, but I don't think we'll be going back to that particular campground.

Loved our site, saw wildlife, including bears, every day... walking right through the campground. The literal only downside was the neighbor camper who did not adhere to the generator use hours.

My husband has grown up in this campground and now we are bringing our kids. We just love the tranquility. There is usually one day a week that the Cades Cove loop is closed to cars, we always plan to make that one of our camping days so we can bike the loop. Such a beautiful ride full of nature and wildlife. We walked from our campsite to Abrams Creek every day to cool off and play, cooked over the fire at night and caught fireflies. A great trip!

Just way too many people. The loop road is a traffic nightmare...the worst I have ever seen even in LA. The campground is loud. The site is un-staffed...not a single employee. It is totally run by volunteers. They were great but cannot do the functions that are employees only. Like sell passes for example. The crowds are the worst part, just like being in the big city.
