Many trails to hike! Very disappointed Cades Cove Loop was closed. It was the reason I booked my stay there.

Great location being so close to Cades Cove and Abrams Creek; however, do not expect solitude or personal space for that matter. Campground is overcrowded and we were disappointed with the smell and sound of the countless RV generators being used around the clock. Tent/van camping should be completely segregated from RV's, like at Elkmont. We were in the B-section, which has RV's and tents together. Also, park rangers are practically non-existent, so no one is actually regulating much at the campsite, ie quiet hours, proper bear storage, cleaning bathrooms, etc.

This is our 5th year camping at Cades Cove. It's one of our favorite family times. This year the area we stayed in was in need of some attention however. The grass was almost knee high at our 2 sites, and just behind the tent pad was poison ivy. Quite a few sites in our area all had very tall grass. Several of the other sites in another area had new mulch, and concrete parking sites. They looked very nice!! I hope this was just a work in progress, and the area where we were will soon be maintained. The bathroom was much cleaner this time than last time too!

The campground was nice but the amount of people visiting Cades Cove is unsustainable. The road leading to Cafes Cove is overwhelmed with people stopping ito look for bears and if one is spotted complete traffic jam.
Driving the Cades Cove loop road is fun but more of the same. Instead of pulling off the road people stop on the road to view wildlife creating more traffic issues. The best way to do the loop road is by bicycle. When traffic backs up you can simply go around it.
