During the week and early enough in the season that the campground wasn't completely full. I came for car-free Wednesday, the only day it's worth entering the cove loop road.It should be noted that site B48 is *not* suitable for a trailer, RV, or caravan. The drive is steeply inclined.

We loved Cades Cove campground. The tent pads are level and deep so you can drive tent stakes all the way in without hitting rocks. The restrooms on the B loop (not sure about other loops) do not have outlets for hairdryers/razors (not that we needed them--just an FYI as Smokemont campground restrooms have outlets). There is a visitor center at the campground with basic supplies, souvenirs, a small deli, firewood, and ice. There are printouts of the campground map available if you get there after hours. The rangers' station has a Cades Cove cancellation stamp if you have a National Parks Passport. Super nice staff and rangers! We have Verizon Wireless and had zero cell phone service. It was perfect for us as we wanted to unplug but something to be aware of. Because we were so close to Cades Cove Loop (literally right around the corner from the campground), we actually got up early 2 different mornings to drive the loop. One morning was really foggy which created a whole different world than the next morning which was clear and sunny. Parking at the trailheads on the Cades Cove side of the park wasn't nearly as crowded as other parts of the park (we camped the second week in October, 2022) so we enjoyed a lot of nearby hikes in relative privacy. We loved the Lynn Camp Prong trail. It follows the creek/river for peaceful water sounds and beautiful mini and major waterfalls. The bonus was the rusted out car left over from CCC days!

We have camped several times in Cades Cove and love it! We drove the Loop 4 times in our 2 night stay. Seeing it in the morning vs evening is amazing. We saw the horses released from the Stables for the evening and in the 20 years I have gone to Cades Cove I have never experienced it. What a wonderful sight! We are tent campers and the only concern is the spacing of bath houses. Especially at night when bears and other wildlife can be in the area. This time we stayed in Section B and the toilet closes to us was closed. We had to drive to one in C section because the next closest was in the Group Camp which required walking near the wooded area. But we would do it again a second!

We stayed there for two nights, and it was raining the whole time. The convenient store was awesome! Especially during rainy days, we could get their great loaded hot dogs, and coffee in the morning. The bathroom were pretty clean. We saw so many bears when we drove through the loop. It was a great experience

The Cades Cove campground is wonderful for tent camping. We also enjoyed the hike to Charlie’s Bunion.

B37 was my reserved spot at Cades Cove. As in the past few seasons when I have stayed at the Cades Cove campground, I was planning on staying at the same spot starting November 1. It was the practice that all I had to do was notify the Checkin Site that I was extending my stay. When I checked on that, Oct 29, I was told that I could not stay in the spot I was in which was B37. When I asked why, I was told that a ruling had become effective approximately two or three months prior that the first two rows of the B section had to be reserved after Oct 31. The clerk indicated that all reservees had been notified by email of this change. I did not receive and email. I checked with other campers in the same row and none of those with whom I spoke indicated they had received an email. An arbitrary change by some manager or executive, made my stay miserable this time. Why? Because I am an elderly tent camper, a large tent - 8 person, which takes time to set up and tear down especially after equipment is inside of it. I entertained the idea of just moving early. I was told on the 29th, that if I wanted to move I had 45 minutes to do so - otherwise I would be "holding" two campsites which for them would be a problem. I understood that so I chose not to move - as there was no way I could do it in 45 minutes. I was going to move then on the 30th or 31st but rain was in the forecast for a couple of days. If you have ever tent camped, you understand the issue with opening up the tent while it is raining. I took the tent down and moved out on the 30th and left the Smokies. This made it a disappointing trip merely because I was not aware of the new "rule" or "edict" some person had decided to make effective for the fall of 2019. Otherwise, I always enjoy the smokies and my camping experience has normally been great.Regards - Don Smith / Quincy, IL
