Fall in the Smokies is my absolute favorite. It is so convenient to be at Cades Cove campground and go run the loop lope 10 mile race. I also really enjoy the hikes in the area. We hiked to Abrams Falls, and it is one of my favorites. We also hiked from the Cades Cove loop entrance to the John Oliver cabin, and that was a lot of fun. We saw a bear on that hike, but he was away from the trail and went the other way when he heard us coming.Spence Field and Rocky top is another favorite in the area. I wish the campsite had a little bit more privacy.I understand the reasoning to burn heat treated wood but does it have to cost so much and be so dry? We bought several bundles of wood and it burnt so fast because its so dry that even after spending $40 on wood we still didnt have fire for the evening.

Great park and a great camp site to go with it. There is zero cell service in the campground and in most of the park with the exception of higher elevations, which was plenty fine for us. There is a small area with wifi access behind the campground store which allowed us to check in with family/plan routes we hadn't, but the ranger stations and visitor centers along with the good marking makes travel easy. Other reviews are correct, the sites are not very private, but that is fairly common across all National Parks. Good tree coverage above at most sites in C loop.

Highly recommend the Cade's Cove Loop for an evening drive and to access Abrams Falls. Also recommend Rocky Top/Thunderhead which starts at the picnic area - 15 miles total roundtrip (out and back, not a loop) with 4k elevation gain if you're looking for a challenge that puts you back at camp.

Make sure you take half a day to a full day to drive the park and see all the areas - unmatched scenic routes.

Overall a great trip!

Noooo privacy. WITH THAT SAID...everyone that i encountered was friendly...again tho...there is ZERO privacy between campsites.. they are all very open and VERY CLOSE. If needed i would stay again however i would book a groups site.
