Our comfort station had no soap, no outlet, no shelves, nor any hooks. I found the lack of soap in all the campgrounds within the park,(we stayed in Elkmount, Smokemont and Deep Creek as well as Cades Cove) to be a poor choice for saving costs, especially having just gone through a pandemic not so long ago.Campsites were lacking in privacy but because it wasnt at full capacity, we enjoyed our stay. The hike to Gregory Bald was fantastic but the route back to the campsite was excruciating due to the barely moving traffic on Cades Cove loop road. Again, I cant imagine a worse thing for the environment than sooo many cars basically idling for hours on end. Surely it would be better to have a shuttle or something and this would also allow for people who just want to get to the trailheads and back to not be stuck in this almost non moving line.We enjoyed the nature interpretive trail within the campground.

September is a great month to visit the Cove. The weather was lovely and the crowds were not overwhelming. Make sure to visit the cove loop on a vehicle-free Wednesday - the best time to do it! (Someday I hope for a cycle-free day - for walkers only - as it can feel dangerous with all the racers and newbies on the road.) The campground was clean and well maintained, including the bathrooms. The generator-free loop was quiet, even on the busy weekends. For hikers there are a variety of short and long hikes with little to no driving. We hiked Gregory's Bald for the first time and were glad to have fairly good visibility that day. Oh - yes, many bears were seen. A pesky coyote too. (Shame on people for feeding the wildlife!) We have visited in May, August, September and October. Early May and later September were most pleasant overall - less busy, great weather, flowering plants and colorful mushrooms - and always photo worthy dramatic vistas.

Fantastic location to bike the loop when it's closed to autos! I enjoyed the campground and the amenities close by.

Campsite is great. Busy but not over packed. I like the convenient store. People are very friendly.
Highly recommended when you want to see trails around the cove area.

Campground was pristine. The scenic loop right outside the campground is a great way to start your stay at the park.
