Great access to the Cades Cove loop and many trails. It rained a lot before and during our stay leaving fallen branches all but unusable for a fire. A stove or alternate fuel source is recommended. Lots of bear activity (including babies!) which was very cool.

This is a great campground. We travel in an extended length van. Site selected online was not level and they were happy to help me change sites. Bathrooms not great but this is a national park campground so that is expected. Sites are tight but that too is typical in the smokies. Picnic tables in good shape as was the fire pit. Awesome location!! We visited this time to experience BIKE and walk day through the 11 miles of beautiful cades cove! We biked in the morning and then again in the evening. Saw 2 bear early on and then a mother and 2 cubs and yet another mother and 3 cubs in the evening ride. All in one day! Also turkey and deer and even brook trout in the creek! Definitely going back. FYI - we have e-bikes that for us was needed on some of the hills. It took us about 2 hours. We did not stop at all the historical markers but a few but stopped often to enjoy the views and nature. I’d say 2 hour with e-bike is minimum. Lots of people walking. Many with strollers. Must do it!

Super nice area. Sites were well cared for, bath rooms were cleaned and stocked, and easy to reserve.

We camped 4 nights with two 7yr olds and we LOVED the campground! Great location, we looked out into the woods so it was a nice view. The bathrooms were fairly close and clean. Great services in the area. Our kids liked that they could get a morning icecream at the store- they asked for one every morning. We took the kids horseback riding at the Cades Cove stables and they were in heaven. We all enjoyed the Cades Cove loop and the hike to Abrams Falls. It was nice for the kids to be able to play in the stream near the campsite. I loved all the history they were able to see/learn scattered thoughout the park.

Although campsite was sold out there were a number of empty slots do I believe to rainy conditions. I am from desert so I enjoyed the rain. As difficult to get a campsite nowadays as it is I think after missing the first night the campsite should be made available unless camper goes to website and confirms stay.. Don’t give people their money back but would open a few more opportunities. One mile nature trail in campsite was nice for us as we came in late. Good trails that were longer were near also. Don’t know what the driving attraction of the 11 mile loop for Cade’s Cove is but many went. I liked that on certain days it is closed for bikes and walkers.

Sites are too close and do not have vegetation between them.
Checking in was very confusing and annoying. There were no hours of operation posted at the campground office, on the recreation.gov website nor NPS site. Information we received when reserving the site indicated we would be kicked off the site if we did not register with the campground office. We were able to speak to a volunteer who just happened to drive by our site. He told us the office would open when someone was able to be there. What!? But he did note that we had arrived and said not to worry about registering.

Due to Covid restrictions and closing of other sites in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we decided to give Cades Cove a try. After choosing the most "secluded" site available, we were still closely bordered by 2 sets of neighbors. Both were respectful. However, the family next to us left the next day and were replaced with a creepy group of adults who engaged in busking right there in camp, and seemed disgruntled when no one brought them money. . While that's something I appreciate on a street corner, I don't go camping to hear the music of others, good or otherwise. As a result, we weren't comfortable leaving our site for very long and didn't experience the peace we go primitive camping for.

Reasons we won't return to Cades Cove: 1. Small, exposed sites with no privacy other than your tent. 2. Creepy camp neighbors. 3. People immediately stopping by our site upon arrival to invite us to church. 4. Price-gouging on firewood.
