Sites are well spaced and staff keep the bathrooms clean. The bathrooms could use an update but I’m thankful for flush toilets and potable water. It was nice being close to Cades Cove- I drove it every day that I was there and saw bears every day- I’m the loop, not the campground.

We stayed 4 nights in Cades Cove Campground, and found it to be clean, quiet, and friendly. The campground store was enjoyable, and fun to shop and browse. The generator rules helped keep the campground peaceful at night. It was a very enjoyable stay.

We arrived after hours but a ranger pulled up in a truck around the same time so he was able to direct us to our site and told us about the check in process for the next morning. Bathrooms were clean and heated. We only had one day in the park, passing through on a road trip, and Cade's Cove was a great pick because of the proximity to the loop road with historic sites, trailheads, and visitor center. There's also wifi accessible from the amphitheater behind the camp store, which was good to check in with family. Already planning my next trip.

Late arrival check-in was frustrating. The directions indicate you must check-in the next morning during a specific time (none are feesible for early hikers) or your reservation for that coming night would be forfeited. Depending on which source you use theres varying of times & no times were posted at the Ranger check-in building. The only phone number posted was an emergency number. Our plan was to start early to hike all day & beat the terrible traffic congestion on Cades Cove Loop. We were severely delayed by hanging around the check-in station waiting for someone to show up. Finally, we noticed other campers had stuck a note in the door indicating they were checking in so we did the same. Fortunately, the note worked? Or at least we didnt lose our site. Its frustrating to understand why if you have a reservation you could lose it simply by not checking in on time. We never had any communication with park staff the two days we camped. Loop C women's bathroom was down to 2 stalls. Someone had a toilet paper party Saturday inside the restroom & left no tp to be used. It was still a mess mid morning Sunday. Campsite was clean & very quiet.

I booked a site on line. Site said 40 foot long but only 20 foot rv. booking agent suggested calling campground. Person that answered at campground said oh no, a 30 foot will fit fine. Well in was easier than out.(but still difficult) boulders & trees on either side & across. 4 people helping, & over an hour of maneuvering finally had to let the tail of the camper take some damage or cut a tree down... my advice. Just listen to what they have written down, it's there for a reason!!

In early March, know that you should bring in drinking water. I found one working drinking fountain by the restroom and a shared line for the RV waste site. I went back to Townsend to buy several gallons of drinking water. There is a great little IGA grocery store there. The campground staff and the volunteers were outstanding and the park was clean and well kept. Some of the camping site parking pads, while cement, have a pitch to them so bring leveling blocks for your camper. This is a scenic campground with wonderful day use areas. I can only imagine how busy it gets during summer high-season.

I absolutely loved this campground. It was very well located in the park at one of my favorite spots in the Great Smoky Mountains. The bathrooms were very clean and the park rangers here were very helpful. The only complaint I have is about the amount of people who come to the park especially for Gatlinburg. If you are like myself and visit national parks for the beauty of the landscape. The small cities right outside the park make traffic and getting from point A to point B a nightmare. Aside from that the campground was BEAUTIFUL.
Biggest problem was no bathrooms. We had it the first night then they cut it off due to a water issue. The only gave us one bathroom to share on that loop. It was always full and had to wait every morning. And get water refill by driving there. No enough parking.
The tent spaces are very close together.. Although our "row" was a non-electric one, we were within 50 ft of big rigs using their generators, including during the night. Mask-wearing in the bathrooms and gift shop/store was not consistent, despite being "required." Overall, a convenient place to camp but not a great camping experience.
Cades Cove is awesome. The views from the hikes were great. There was almost like a micro-environment in the cove, since there was almost a 7-8 degree temperature difference from the campsite to the bottom of the service roads. We were there in the winter, and it was quiet and peaceful.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
