This is a lovely, well-maintained campground in a beautiful area. Our only disappointment was there were no water spigots located throughout the campground like there usually are in state parks; we had to walk to the restroom every time we needed tap water. Other than that--it was great!

The campground was empty which I thought was fantastic, until I realized that Cades cove was closed due to tree trimming. After finding this out it was too late to get a refund so I decided to just stay the night. There were no attendants at the campground office when I arrived nor when I left the next day. A ranger drove through the campground the evening of my stay but didnt stop or check my reservation.

Really enjoyed the campground. No car Wednesday was great on the loop. Nice to see that many people out riding and walking.

Very wonderful place

There are a lot of rocks and logs I assume to prevent parking but makes it extremely difficult to back in a light pop-up. The camper two sites above me had a heck of a time getting his trailer in because of rocks and logs and he was an extremely experienced camper. If you are able to scout out sites ahead of time and look for those issues, it may help in planning. I also tripped over the concrete slab that sticks up about 1-2 " , not flush with the ground and fell face first into the trailer hitch - thankful I didn't knock out teeth or hit an eye, so you have to be very aware of all the bumps & sink holes around. Other than some safety concerns, it was very nice and the staff very pleasant. There are a lot of pretty areas around Cades Cove to enjoy.

Nice campground in March with only 2 rows occupied. No water spigots, so need at walk to bathroom for water. Also sand pads for tents did not hold stakes in wind storm. I hiked Anthony Creek trail which is within walking distance of campground. Never found the 1 mile nature trail to learn tree names that was posted on ranger bldg., but didn't give any directions or map. The bldg. was closed during my visit.

Feb is a great time of year if you are lucky enough to get great weather like we did. Mid-Feb and it was mid 70's to low 80's, sunny and clear. Note that the campground store is closed in Feb so bring everything you need. Townsend isn't too far for anything you forgot.

When we were there, the camp store was not open so there was no firewood for sale on site. Luckily we bought some in Townsend on our way up just in case but some of the people at neighboring sites had to head back to town to get firewood.

we have found that Cades Cove is, for the most part, filled with campers who respected the campground. One night, one exception, loud young people until 12:30 when a fellow camper left his tent to quiet them. The ranger came around the next am and there was such a mess they were fined. So relieved to see appropriate action towards unruly campers. otherwise our stay was wonderful!

We normally love Cades Cove, but this trip was terrible. We camped in site C46. There was a large group of people camping together in 7 of the sites around us. These people literally had no respect for anyone else in the campground. They walked through our campsite repeatedly and hit our vehicle with a football over and over until I almost lost it with them. The reason I give the campground 1 star for this trip is because they don't allow RV's in the group camp. That's where this group belonged, but unfortunately, because of Campground regulations, they made everyone else miserable. It wasn't just us. They were rude to everyone around them, loud music etc. I've been camping at Cades Cove for 35+ years and this was the worst trip I've ever had. Open the group camp to RV's!

We love Cades Cove and have been camping there for years. First with our children and now introducing our grands to the splendor of the mountains. However, the decline in the campground and the facilities over the last few years is concerning. The restrooms have door that dont latch, are dirty and often too smelly to use. Bits of food and trash littered our campsite. Only one source of freshwater at dump station. The whole camping area has a disheveled and run down look. Rangers, volunteers and the like are in short supply and hard to find if you have questions or need assistance. I just feel you (we) can do better. I really hate it for those that are experiencing our wonderful Smokey Mountains for the first time. We will most likely continue to visit and camp at the cove and elsewhere in the Smokeys. And look forward to thing getting back to the former standard. Cades cove itself was a lovely as always. And the wildlife, nature and our love of the mountains will keep us coming back. I just think you need to be aware of how us campers feel. Several people I have spoken to in the campgrounds, share my concerns about the deteriorating conditions. Thanks for asking. I hope these concerns do not fall on deaf ears.

In the month of March, and I assume other colder months, there are no rangers or check in lists. There were also not the slips of paper that you hang on your site to show that it is paid for. Someone was on our site and did not want to leave it. He eventually did leave but told us that he just picks sites to stay on. It was a handicap spot, so I think he picked it knowing that it is the last to book. I recommend you arrive early. It is harder to make someone move if they have a full set up. The Cades Cove Loop closes at dusk. We missed driving it because of this. On Wednesday in the summer they close the loop to traffic so bikers and walkers can use it. They say it is very crowded. There is a snack shop that is open from 9 to 5. The store is very cute and well stocked with nice items to buy. Have a great trip!

The concrete camping pads are a great addition to the campground. Now if8you could not add hot water to the bathrooms. Also need more pull-off areas on the Cades Cove loop. Thank you

We had a snow storm while we were there. The street crew and the rangers did an amazing job of communicating and safely leading us out.

We have come with a group of our friends to Cades Cove for over twenty years usually the later part of October. My entire family love Cades Coves and the Smokies. Certainly our trip would be much more enjoyable is (a) we had some "hook-ups" (electricity, water and sewer) for our camper (b) if we could bring our own bug free fire wood and (c) if there were bathhouses with showers and hot water. However as nice as those items would be, I don't see any of them happening.O'Neal Cleveland
