Was peaceful. Lots of bears this year, in the campground and on the loop. Not many deer but a few.

Cades Cove to me is the heart of SMNP and the campground is wonderful. On days when the loop is not closed to cars, its still quite easy to bike early and beat the traffic. This often is when the wildlife is most active as well. Nice hiking nearby as well.

Love camping at Cades Cove campground. This is a yearly tradition that my wife and I started a few years back. So peaceful!

Very old school. No amenities at the sites. Which is fine. Knew that going in. Restrooms could use some serious renovation. Showers would be nice. There are way too many people trying to access the loop. People stop where ever they want. I did the bicycles ( and walkers) only Weds. Loved that. Took less time to complete the loop than driving in a car!

The campground at Cades Cove is nice, but crowded. RV spot was level with lots of shade and close to bathrooms. Other campers were friendly and respectful. Temperature was cool at night - even in late June, so didnt need power for AC. Park rangers there are fantastic professionals. They went beyond my expectations helping me get my house battery recharged. Camp store is great and has everything you could imagine. Wish they closed the loop road to cars on more than one day per week. Would have been nice to hike or bike around the loop road. The park itself is loaded with trails and streams for recreation. Well be back when the park is less crowded.

Cades Cove campsite has access to the Cades Cove loop and trails for a great day of animal watching or hiking on a few of the close by trails. The trails however take some time to get to if you need to take the loop to access them since everyone diverges in the area by 9am. It feels more car dependent to get to places than at the other sites offered. The shop is very nice as it is one of the better offered at the park with firewood, ice, coffee, food, and souvenirs. The campsites themselves are a bit over grown and needing a bit more clean up to avoid nighttime issues if you need to go to the bathroom. The bathrooms and outdoor sink need clean up to be as nice as the ones at the Smokemont camp, as they did their job but not as nice as other sites. Overall this campsite is more for the family that wants to get away but still be close enough to many other people and the busy town of Gatlinburg. If you seek a quieter experience and more quiet trails, Smokemont campground is a much better choice for that need. Overall not a bad site for the family experience with small kids. Just not really a great site for those seeking the ability to walk everywhere and find solitude with nature.

Park was very nice, but I travel with a pet (golden retriever) and our hiking was so limited. Walking on the paved roads was dangerous and there was so much trash, it was disappointing. It did not show the the park off very well.

Love the covenience the campground has to everything. A short drive to Townsenda. You also have the convenience of visiting a ghost town in Elkmount. When we was in the area we was able to find 1 chimneys still standing from the famous Wonderland Hotel also came upon 2 other chimneys. It was a short hike. The feelings you get coming upon a piece of history takes you back to wondering how grand the place was at its time. Even though the loop road was closed for repaving we had a great time. Cades Cove campground is quiet.

During our mid-April visit we found the campground well kept and quiet. Unlike Smokemont CG, t is also well laid out to provide reasonable privacy. A volunteer responded quickly when we pointed out that the folks in the site next to ours in the no-generators section of the campground were running a generator. We drove the very popular Cades Cove Loop and found it every bit as crowded as we were told to expect. Also, trailheads in this part of GSMNP were packed and overflowing onto nearby roadsides. Still, it’s such a beautiful place and we were glad we’d come.

Great place. Nice camping store. You are approximately 45 minutes away from town. Take what you need in with you. There are places along the drive up where you can park and enjoy a nice creek. Families playing in the water, bring a float. We did see bear in two different locations.

Excellent campground, well kept grounds, it is nice having the camp store nearby. Ice cream at night kept my grandson even happier.I wish the Campground had shower facilities though.
