See our comments on Elkmont Campground. Actually we liked Smokemont a little better than Elkmont only because sites there seamed a little farther apart. And we needed to move to the other side of the mountain, and we interacted with several staff at Smokemont to cancel reservations and make new ones because the road over the mountain was closed. Staff was great. The sites at both campgrounds were great.

The park is stunning. The water running over the rocks creating the most relaxing night sounds for sleep. Various trails to hike or beautiful sights to stop along a driving routes offer lovely experiences for everyone. Wildlife is abundant. Leave your electronic devices at home and take your family on an adventure!!

The campsite was nice. We backed up to a stream, and the site was relatively flat. Unfortunately, they were doing a "study" at the bathrooms where the lights were off and not able to be turned on. It was quite difficult to, first, find the bathroom at night and, then, use it. (We rolled in after dark and had to ask another guest where it was, even though we had a map.)

Very nice campground. If you can, go to the stables and take a trail ride, during the fall it is so beautiful.

The fact there is no internet or cell service and no power, make this a perfect getaway. For a week we were disconnected from social media and the woes of the world. We walked, read, talked to fellow campers and listen to the soothing flow of the creek water against the rocks.

Have camped there many times before, but this time we had an angry/aggressive man in the campsite next to us complaining about generator usage - even though we were in the generator loop. Our understanding when we booked the campsite was that generators can be used from 8am-8pm. This is stated on the website and also a large sign when entering the park. We then came to find out there is a little know fact regarding generators that is listed in information that was never given to us when we received our confirmation or when we checked in. The ranger Jackie was great and really tried to mediate the issue but we felt totally uncomfortable and left without spending the night - and we will never return. Jackie was the only positive in the entire experience.

We love this campground! We enjoyed loop "F" this time, right on the river. The site is very spacious. The restroom was always in great condition although the interior lighting was some time off the mark (dark at dusk). The dumpster in our loop suffered a broken latch and was taped shut, we thought this would be like this for days, but within a day a new dumpster was brought in. This is a very well-maintained campground with lots of trails for taking walks. Out loop host was super friendly!

Clean and beautiful campsites. We had to leave early due to vehicle issues but this site is close to many attractions.

Excellent location on the creek. I liked being out of the busier northern section.
Wish there were more “signs” or recommendations about the nearby Cherokee museum and cultural experiences - important recognitions. Did like the references on the maps.
What’s the weather a few more trails that the dogs can go on. Many Camper bring their dogs - perhaps open up a few more trails for the dogs? I realize not all of them but some of them would be nice.

We camped in a travel trailer in site F38. It is a big, beautiful site right next to the Bradley Fork. Just gorgeous. The whole campground is super clean, very well taken care of. We were there 7 nights and the campground was full or mostly full every night. We hiked and fished and drove around gravel roads. We climbed Clingmans Dome and went to Cades Cove. It was a great week! We love camping in the Smoky Mtn National Park

We had a wonderful spot right on the water. It was nice to hear that running water all night long. The restrooms were very clean and the campground was wonderful. It is more open that some in that there is little shelter from neighboring campers, but we really did not mind that even though we had a Brittany spaniel with us. The problem I have with this national park only relates to the strict pet policy. My wife has some mobility issues, but I would have loved to take the Brittany out on some hiking trails, but there are no trails at this campground where a dog is allowed. even on a leash. Some other national parks we have stayed at are more pet friendly when it comes taking leashed dogs on some of the trails.
