Campground is very good condition, restrooms clean and campsite was very nice. Only problem we had was it was dangerous to take walks because of groups of 4 -6 kids who were racing on bikes and scooters without regard for pedestrians. Rangers should have put a stop to this but it went on for 3-4 days.

The campground was beautiful but not well maintained by people who care. One restroom had a hand dryer out. The other had a flush valve on a fixture that would not work. Between that and the parking fees, the tax payer is being ripped off by an out if control National Park Service that has forgotten to whom the really should feel like they report to. I recently saw a group of 3 park employees working to remove a small tree from the roadside. I could have cut it down, sawed it up and hauled it off in an hour. They were still there messing around hours later. Shameful.

Great campground, quiet with plenty of privacy. Just wish they'd put electric in at the very least. Especially for how popular this national park is.

Smokemont was beautiful and quiet. The bathrooms were spotless, and the campground attendant at the front was very helpful and friendly. Check in was quick and easy. We will always choose to stay here.

We stayed 3 nights at Smokemont at the end of September 2021. We stayed in Loop F in site #4. It was a great site that backed up to the mountain stream. My wife wanted to bring that noise machine along with us when we left :) It is also off the hi-way, so there is no traffic noise. We took the waterfall horseback trail ride from the Smokemont Riding stables. We enjoyed that a lot! The best thing we did was to leave at 6:00 am to drive to Clingman's Dome for sunrise. Spectacular! We also visited Mingo Falls outside of Cherokee.

Awesome campground, I love the space between sites, short distance to enjoy shopping at Cherokee NC or Gatlinburg Tenn. everywhere you turn is a beautiful overlook of the Smokey Mountains. Bathrooms and sites are kept clean, all rules are Enforced and thats great for everyone. Everything appears to run smoothly as intended. Kids enjoy riding bicycles around campground, it was too cool to play in the water this trip. Will definitely return. Thank you to the park service for providing such a beautiful campground.

The creek side sites are even better than I had anticipated. If you dont mind a little dry camping and prefer to listen to the sound of the gurgling stream instead of the whir of an A/C unit, this is your place. Cherokee, NC, is nearby if you want to check out coffee shops and museums. There is a Visitors Center less than a mile away, and a highlight for us was seeing the elk that were in the area.

The best thing is the river,!!! It would have been nice if the water fountain was working.
