Always love staying at the Smokemont Campground. The grounds are well kept and the sites are very nice. Plus, you never know when an elk might come visit.

This is a great campground for those who desire creature comforts and don't mind crowds. In hindsight, this wasn't personally an ideal campsite for me, but I have now found backcountry camping to be more my style. It was noisy and congested. I woke up at 6AM on the dot (when quiet hour ends) to kids screaming and adults laughing and talking loud, soon followed by generators from RVs. The sites were also VERY close together. But take my review with a grain of salt, as front country camping isn't something I totally love these days. However, it is kid friendly and easy to access. There is also a beautiful running creek on one side to wade in and enjoy. The rangers and park staff there are wonderful! There is also direct access to hiking trails from this campground. With a map and planning, you can get to some incredible places in the park, just by starting at the trailhead here. In short, this is a great site for people needing modern amenities and accessibility. If someone is seeking quiet and relaxation, you may get the exact opposite here. The dogs, kids, and RV generators will readily drown out nature sounds. HOWEVER - there is an amazing backcountry site only 2.5 miles away from this that I highly recommend! All you do is park at this campground and walk down the trail connected to it. Super easy, relatively flat trail.

Large open sites are great for RVs! Roads were easy to maneuver with my 19' travel trailer. Campground staff were very friendly and helpful. Restrooms were nice and clean.
