Loop D is next to a large stream that fills the space with the sound of running water. There are many modern facilities and the spaces are large

Beautiful place, professional staff, clean facilities. No internet and no phone coverage services, at least no with ATT and Verizon

When we arrived The previous campers were still in our reserved spot. Come to find out they had a dead battery and was waiting on AAA. The staff was currently at lunch so when they returned (we parked in the parking area and waited) I asked the ranger at the office what we should do. She suggested we park in a different campsite but don't set up. When I told her we would like to set up so we can eat, she very unsympathetically replied " Well, there is nothing I can do about it". I felt so sorry for the campers that were broke down. Was there not a set of jumper cables the rangers could have used to help them? I realize the campground was full but I feel that the ranger at the desk could have been a bit more accommodating. She was very rude. As for the rest of our stay it was very enjoyable and the rest of the staff we ran into was very nice. We love Smokemont and have never run into rude staff before. Maybe she was having an extra stressful day.

We had a terrific experience at Smokemont. Facilities were in great shape. Staff were helpful and friendly. Trails were well maintained. Dump station was efficient and well maintained. Our NPS folks are continually asked to do more and more with less and less. If you enjoy these parks, these lands, and these facilities then don't just write a review here. Call your congressional representatives and TELL THEM! Thank you!

I have enjoyed vacationing in the Great Smokey Mountains many times since the early 60's. My family almost always camped at Smokemont campground. I continue to visit these mountains and camp at Smokemont campground. The property has had a few changes over the years but continues to maintain the high standards of being clean, neat, and well maintained. I am always anxious to arrive and sad to have to leave. I have visited Smokemont around 50 times over 55 years and have spent hundreds of days camped there. That should be enough testimony as to how good my experiences have been. I highly recommend Smokemont to anyone who wants to experience being surrounded by nature but In a more safe and peaceful setting.

With a river running right through the campground, you feel like your immersed in nature but still have the amenities of a well kept campsite. I only wish firewood and starting materials were more accessible.
