Clean and neat campsites, bathrooms were well maintained. Nice location for people who like to walk/hike. Saw many fishermen

Peaceful campground, with a beautiful river running the length of the grounds. Close to lots of trailheads with spectacular hikes. Even the Smokemont loop is a wonderful hike. The Kephart Prong trail was magical, like being in the garden of eden, with too many wildflowers to list. Only complaint about the campground was the short time that attendants were available to buy wood. We had to drive to Cherokee to get it, so you may want to purchase wood on your way in.

Great campground for families. Well maintained and safe for everyone. Plenty of open space, great creek for the kids to play, and fun fishing with the little ones/

Perfect location in Great Smoky Mountains NP. We loved having the elk stroll through the campground in the evenings. The river across the street provided a nice consistent sound to fall asleep to. The campground was fairly quiet in early May. Our only issue was that the water spigot next to our site was not working-- I had reserved that particular spot because of the nearby drinking water source. We had to fill up water at the restroom instead. Ice and firewood were conveniently available for sale at the horse stable near the campground.

The short hike up Clingmans Dome was well worth doing.

Someone was occupying my site when I arrived which was awkward and no host/rangers were around, but the campground itself was nice and near a nice walking trail. A heard of young elk even entered the campground at one point. No cell coverage whatsoever. Also, it was unclear as there's no actual address for the campground, but it is in South Carolina, not Tennessee.

Fantastic placement within the park!

Direct access to a variety of trails, firewood and ice available at the nearby stables, ample parking, quick access to Hwy 441 and all along one of the park's wonderful streams. There are not bear lockers, they advise that any food be secured in a vehicle whenever you leave the campsite or go to sleep.

The water spigots/fountains were still shut off for the winter season when we visited, but the dishwashing sink attached to the bathroom building more than provided.

We reserved online and had no problem checking-in at the front. They have about every general park and campsite map, bear, firewood and safety pamphlet available at the same check-in building. They post the forecast for the week there too, which we found particularly handy. Bathroom facilities are cleaned at least once daily. Never once lacked soap or paper towels. A ranger made rounds of the campground.

Weather is mild enough that you can leave a canopy up without the wind destroying it, but definitely bring thick pads to sleep on as all the tent platforms are gravel. Plenty of trees are available to set up hammocks.

The firepit and attached grill were in great shape. We camped among a mix of RVs, vans, trailers and tents. Sites are spaced well enough to render this a non-issue.

Would camp here again!
