Very nice campground. Employees were very helpful and most courteous. Facilities were clean and up to date. Did have a issue with a group camping next to us with not observing the quiet hours but issue was resolved when they were confronted.

10pm quiet time was held by everyone. Very nice. Generators barely ran around me during daylight hours. Not really private anywhere so bring shelters that can help give seclusion needed.

The experience about the campground was excellent. However compared with other NPS campgrounds it felt like every other site was closer than usual.

it was absolutely gorgeous. be careful with winter camping the main road was closed. be ready for the cold if you're tent camping. the weather is always colder in the park.

We had a site right near the creek, which worked well for reading and sleeping. We also enjoyed our proximity to the visitor center, where we hiked the river trail and accessed the nature center. Being close to Cherokee was nice for a shower. All in all, a great stay!

Me and the wife stayed three nights; first two nights in one spot and one in another. B loop. The first two nights were rough because of the neighbors. One ran a generator for a while and was up all night. Our tent was only feet away from the spot next to us. The second night had even louder guests late into the night and bright lights in abundance for hours. They were very nice folks; just too celebratory for the evening because of what I would call the intimate proximity of Smokemount's campsites. The third nite was dark and quiet and comfortable. It was on the other end of the loop away from B37. Way more what we had wanted and needed. It was Of course the best part is the staff of National Parks. Always friendly, helpful, devoted, informative and so on and so on. They are just great folks taking care of our parks and their guests!!

Our stay at Smokemont and Cades Cove Campgrounds (4 nights) would have been fantastic if not for the fact that there are NO showers at those (or any) campgrounds in the park. In such a big park, we prefer to camp where we can be near the activities we choose in the park. And after a long day of hiking, biking, or other physical activity a shower is a must. Researching the campgrounds prior to choosing where to stay, the NPS website leads one to think there are paid showers available in the nearby towns and that the campground offices would have the information available. In reality, the number of places that the offices refer campers to are very limited (2 at Smokemont) and were not guaranteed to be available and and timing was such that you had to cut your activities short just to make it for the shower times. If not for the showers, everything else at the campground was great!

Campsite 37 is cramped in between two other sites. So close we could hear the snores from the tents beside us.

Clean campground and glad the toilets had running water. Smokemont loop is scenic and pretty. River next to campground made falling asleep easy.

Our stay at Smokemont was very nice. The park was very clean and peaceful. The sites in loops B & C are small and a bit close to each other but are layed out well. No showers in the restrooms and access to water a bit far from sites is why 4 stars.

The campground was everything we would have expected from our National Parks. Very clean facilities and dish washing sink available. We did have one setback and I was a bit disappointed in the lack of help from the park staff. Going into the trip we knew that there were no public showers within the park. My wife and I do not own a camper so after a few days of hiking and enjoying all there is to offer we began asking around. We asked rangers, locals, local business and no one knew of cared to help us find a shower for us outside the park. One ranger said you can look it up on your phone and call around.... but we were in the Smoky Mountains with zero service. Did not expect the constant rejection we received when asking for help.

I stayed here for 2 weeks in 2019 (and twice earlier) primarily as a "basecamp" for day hikes as well as one overnight backcounty hike. There are numerous day and overnight trails that connect to the Little River Trail at Elkmont. It was fantastic to simply walk from my tent to the trail of my choice without using my vehicle. The Elkmont campsite itself is extremely pleasant very nicely arranged. The kiosk is super convenient. The Gatlinburg trolley stops daily at Elkmont and for a very small charge will take you to the Laurel Falls trailhead, Sugarlands Visitor Center or Gatlinburg. I used it to start and return from a hike on nearby Cove Mountain.

We were there for family vacation. Our campsite was great. Right across from the water. It was nice and quiet and the staff was very friendly. Lots of activities for the kids going on in the area as well. We will definitely be back.
